This is the only Monroe Co. GAR post I find in Arrowheads to Aerojets: JACOB C. GAUEN POST, NO. 563, GRAND ARMY OF THE REPUBLIC The Jacob C. Gauen Post, No. 563, Grand Army of the Republic, was chartered March 1, 1886. There is no record of charter officers. Peter P. Rau was the last surviving member of the local GAR before he died August 7, 1933. The members took part in all parades in the county. The charter members were: Edwin Nixon, Louis Arns, Oscar O'Neil, Adam Wildt, Anton Meyer, Conrad Herman, Joseph Keilback, Stephen Schaefer, Henry Meyer, Louis Tiechgraeber, George Schaefer, Mathias Schmeids, Louis Simplemann, Dan Schultheis, Christian Boedecker, Philip Heusohn, William Schlingmann, Christian Dobrman, William Hillyard, John Martin, William Rogers, Daniel Zimmer, Joseph Maudinger, and Jacob Satter. The book doesn't mention a separate chapter in Hecker, but the authors of this book seemed to focus mainly on the Waterloo area. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cheryl" <cjordan3@cinci.rr.com> To: <ILSTCLAI-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, September 07, 2004 6:31 PM Subject: Re: [ILSTCLAI] Hecker GAR list? > Please reply to the list as I am interested in this information also. > Thanks, > Cheryl > Clinton county, Ohio > > Subject: [ILSTCLAI] Hecker GAR list? > > > Hi all, > I am looking for information about the Hecker GAR (Grand Army of the > Republic, Civil War Veterans group).
