His name was often mis-spelled as ELI. He was born about 1797 in massachusetts and moved to Illinois sometime on or before 1830, when he married SUSAN DAVIS in Clinton County. ELA and SUSAN had 3 son's. 1. GEORGE W. PRENTICE who was born o/a..1833. 2. JOHN E. PRENTICE(my G-Great Grand father) who was born o/a 1835. 3. Asher Prentice born o/a 1837. They lived in the Troy and Ridge Praire Illinois area in the time period of 1830 to probably the early years of the civil war.
