John The old newspapers are on microfilm at the Waterloo library. If you know the date of death, you can usually pull up the film for the week of and the week after and see if you can find an obit. Unfortunately, there is a gap in the available newspapers - The Waterloo Advocate covers 1870-73, then none until 1890 when the Waterloo Republican and Times are available. Since your ancestor died in 1889, there will be no obit./newspaper for her. I've written to the IL Archives to see if they might have copies of the missing newspapers, but they advise that they do not. If anyone out there has any ideas about other sources to try for the missing newspapers, please let me know. I checked the county-wide cemetery database and find no Goellner/Gellner/Gollner burials. I do have Goeller/Geller in Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic cemetery. In 1918, it was the oldest bank in the County. Hugh Murphy was a cashier, Jos. w. Rickert, M. Schorr, D.M Harby, Geo. W. Ziebold, and H. Quernheim were partners. > >
