    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: EBEL and KIMMEL/KUEMMEL Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hh.2ADE/245 Message Board Post: I am hoping someone will be able to help me figure out the exact relationship between Heinrich "Henry" EBEL (b. 1810 GER d. 03 Dec 1875 Monroe Co, IL) and Henry KIMMEL/KUEMMEL. In Henry EBEL's will written 05 Nov 1875, he "gives to his adopted son Henry KIMMEL, son of my deceased wife Fransiska [KIMMEL is crossed out and EBEL is written above it] and her husband Conrad KIMMEL Four hundred dollars with legal interest thereon from the time of Two years after my decease, untill he arrives at the age of Twenty Four years...". Henry EBEL's probated estate file contains a Feb 1876 Madison Co, IL court paper signed by August HEINRICH from Troy, IL (Henry EBEL's son-in-law) stating "Henry ABEL deceased, boarded "with his son" Henry KUEMMEL" at August HEINRICH's house for a specified time and he is owed money from their lodging, washing and mending. I have searched census and marriage records for Monroe and surrounding counties and have not been successful in determining exactly how they are related. I would be grateful for any help in solving this mystery. Thank you, Jan Heiskell

Dear Pam: Since my previous message may not have gone thru, here is my 2nd attempt. You will find some of the SCHALLOM family in the records of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Columbia, IL. The orginal records are written in Latin as well as the given names so the spellings might seem a little off. Here are a few that I found: PEPERNI, Anna; nee SCHALLOM; wife of Andreas PEPERNI; dau. of Christopher SCHALLOM & wife, Maria; age 63 years old, born in Bohemia; died 10 April 1884; buried 12 April 1884 [1884 # 05] SCHALLOM, Barbara; wife of Wenzislai SCHALLOM; daughter of Henrici FRIERDICH & wife, Mariae ROOS; born 17 Oct. 1857; died 2 Oct. 1889; buried 3 Oct. 1889 [1889 # 13] SCHALLOM, Caecilia; dau. of Wenzislai SCHALLOM & wife, Barbara FRIERDICH; born 25 Sept. 1889; died 12 Oct. 1889; buried 14 Oct. 1889 [1889 # 14] SCHALLOM, Carolus Henricus; son of Wenzislai SCHALLOM & Barbarae FRIERDICH; born 3 April 1879; buried 18 July 1881 [1881 # 18] Hope this helps. 1. Looking for info on Grob funeral home
    2. Sharon
    3. Does anyone know where the Grob Brothers funeral home and or furniture store was located in Columbia? Gustav Grob was the owner, mom found where he fit into our family and we are curious as to where it was located in Columbia and when it was in operation. He died in 1934 so I know it was in operation before that time. His obit states he had a highly successful business. If anyone can help I would appreciate it very much. Sharon
