Can someone please give me the name of the Pastor and current address for the Zoar United Church of Christ (New Hanover), Monroe Co? Did the church have a different name before it became part of the United Church of Christ? I have two baptism certificates from late 1870's (written in German) signed by Evangelical Pastor. These were a g.uncle & g.aunt. Thanks for any help - Annette (Gellner) Coffman
Hello I visited Mt. Vernon's library which has set aside 1st floor for genealogy. Meggie who is in charge of that section has stated if she receives advertisement about genealogy books she would buy them. I hope that you would send your list to C. E. Brehm Public Library in Mt. Vernon, IL as I do have ancestors from Monroe County that I am researching Thanks Mary L. Evers
Does anyone have a copy of this index that they're willing to part with? I understand it was printed before, but is no longer available for sale Specifically, I'm looking for any and all info on Henry GELLNER/Wilhelmine KOTTWITZ married between mid-1870 & 1873 in Monroe Co. Also, Henry's brother August and sister Augusta who lived with Henry & his widowed mother Rosina on the family farm in 1870, were probably married before 1880 - presumably in Monroe County. Overall, the family is quite small - Info on any GELLNER surname would be very helpful. One more item - the MCGS pubs for sale lists a Monroe Co birth index (mostly late 1870's which is exactly what I need), but does not list the cost. Is it available? Thanks to all who responded to my earlier request - our e-mail server has had some problems, so don't know if you got my thank-you or not. Thanks for any info you may have - Annette (Gellner) Coffman
August 13, 1861 is the marriage date of George RIES and Sarah A. Turk. I have a copy and there is a copy at Morrison-Talbott Library, Waterloo, Il and at some other area libraries. Now out of print, but MCGS may reprint in the future. Another RIES (not REIS) marriage is Thomas to Margaret Mees on Oct. 13, 1868. REIS marriages: Adam Jr. to Mrs. Barbara Bussler on 3/29/1862 Adam Sr. to Henrietta Heinrich on 5/27/1872 Jacob to Mrs. Margaret Doll on 1/26/1864 Mrs. Louisa to John Hirz on 7/7/1864 Magdalena to Thomas Ruch on 6/8/1871 Peter to Louisa Acker on 3/29/1860 Peter to Barbara Platz aon 6/24/1860 In our last Quarterly I included Bible pages of Barbara Reis, wife of George Reis, a Civil War soldier, also a picture of George. George and Barbara were married on Nov. 23, 1873, at Mt. Vernon IN. He was the son of George Reis, b. may 4, 1844 in Waterloo. Is this one of your Ries/Reis? Jan

I am looking for the date of marriage of Sarah Agnes Turk of Columbia and George L. Reis, sometime in or before June 1864 when they were living Waterloo. She had married first Isaiah Moses Coombs and divorced him after he left for Utah. If the date of the divorce is available I would appreciate that too. Sarah was born 17 May 1839, in Belleville, St. Clair, Ill, but was in Columbia with her widowed mother Eliza B. Harris Turk by about 1844. I know only the last name of her father. Is the index of Monroe County marriages available online, or for purchase? Thanks so much for your help. Mary Lou Harline [email protected]
P.S. The marriage index does have Noah IMAN marrying Elizabeth BLOYD on August 7, 1851. Is she your Elizabeth IMAN
Our President and VP, Phyllis Veath and Pat Vaseska (sisters), are IMAN descendants. I have forwarded your e-mail to them. Regarding the Methodist church, it was torn down years ago and an ugly motel built in its place. I'm not sure what happened to the records. My Monroe Co. index of marriages 1816-1877 does not list an Elizabeth IMAN. Janet Flynn, Secretary, MCGS
I forwarded your message to our resident church expert, VP Pat Vaseska. Her e-mail address is [email protected] Her computer is down right now, so if you don't hear from her, you may want to contact her just in case she didn't my forward. Jan Flynn, MCGS Secretary
Marianne: also forwarded to Pat Vaseska Jan Flynn, Secretary MCGS
Marianne: I have forwarded your question to our church expert, VP Pat Vaseska. Her e- mail is [email protected] Her computer is down so if you don't hear from her soon, bug her because she may not have received my forward. Jan

Marianne/VA I hope that someone from Monroe Co will respond, but just in case: There is a St. Marcus church and cemetery on Rt. 159 N of Red Bud and S of Hecker. I have seen the church building and canvassed the cemetery several times, the last time in 1997. The church building looks like it is no longer in use. I can't supply address or telephone number.
Do you have any of the church records for St. Marcus? Do you know where to find them? I have a Maria Teresa Klotzer m in Hecker or Red Bud to John Sainteve in 1852. I would like to substantiate this. Please contact Judy St. Eve Schor at [email protected] Thank you in advance.
Is the old St. Marks Evengelical & Reformed Church still in existence, and if so, would some one be so kind as to give me the address and telephone no. If still there, it will probably be called the United Church of Christ. Thanks so much. Marianne/VA
Where are we suppossed to send the raffle ticket stubs and the money collected and do we have to be present to win? Sharon
In the oct. 1997 issue of the Monr. Co. Gene. Soc.Quarterly - Vol.1 Number 4 on page 8 there is the Baum/Salem Cemetary listings. On some of the listings there are notes added. Specifically on page 15 under the name Nagel, Christine (nee Schulte?). I would like to contact the person who added this note about Christine's baptism and her parents names. Thanks. Hi - I'm new at this so please bear with me. Does this church still exist and if so, can someone provide an address/phone number of the church or a person willing to make a photocopy or transcript of some of their records? I'll be glad to compensate anyone who might be able to help. I'm looking for info on my g.gpts Henry & Wilhelmina (Kottwitz) Gellner & their decendents. They were farmers in Monroe Co, near New Hanover, Moredock Pct, and received mail via Merrimac Point P.O. They lived there from at least 1870 thru Mar 1887. From the bits & pieces of info I have, some of the family marriage/birth/baptism/death records were recorded at the Deer Hill Church. I, my sister, one cousin and our children are the only known living decendents - there must be more of us out there somewhere! Can anyone help? Thanks - Annette (Gellner) Coffman
Looking for QUIGLEY that ties to Aaron Quigley or to any Quigley from New Jersey. Aaron was in the 1820 census for St. Clair and later in Gallatin Co. Believe the Quigley's could have been in any of these counties, St. Clair, Madison, Calhoun, Randolph, Monroe, Greene, Macoupin or Jersey. Any help would be greatly appriciated. Dave Acampo, CA
