This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lyon Close White Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Hh.2ADE/227 Message Board Post: Seeking any information on the families Henry Lyon and his wife Malinda (Close) Lyon. I am attempting to prove if this Henry Lyon is the son of William Lyon of Lowell, MI. And would be interesting to know anything about him, his wife or children. Henry and Matlinda Lyon are listed living in Harrisonville, Monroe Co, IL in the 1880 census: Henry Lyon, b. NY ae 44y; Malinda S. Lyon, wife, b. KY ae 46y; Ida Close, step-dau, b. IL (parent's b. PA & KY) ae 26y; Thomas Close, step-son, b. IL ae 24; Ella Close, step-dau, b. IL ae 24; Dewey Lyon, son, b. MI ae 15 (parents b. NY & MI); James Talbot, laborer, b. MO ae 19y. I believe this Lyon family is the same as the following found in Bowne, Kent Co, MI in 1870: Henry "Lynn", b. NY ae 35y; Elizabeth "Lynn", b. Scotland, ae 33y; Frank "Lynn", b. MI ae 9y; Dewey "Lynn", b. MI ae 6y; (Heubert?) White, b. MI ae 13; Adeline White, b. MI ae 8y. This Henry Lyon (Lynn) is probably Henry M. Lyon, b. Chenango Co, NY and son of William Lyon of Lowell Twp, Kent Co, MI. Henry M. Lyon married Elizabeth White in 1867 Caledonia, Kent Co, MI. It seems possible that Elizabeth died 1870-80 and Henry moved to IL where he remarried. Malinda (Close) Lyon's husband possibly died between 1870-1880 as she is probably the same person in the following 1870 census of Woodville PO, Twp 3, Range 11, Monroe Co, IL: James Close, b. PA ae 61y; Melinda, b. KY ae 65y (note: this age is probably a mistake by the 1880 census); Ida Close b. IL ae 18; Ellen, b. IL ae 15; Thomas A., b. IL ae 15.
