I am still digging though. Wish I could do more. He was born in NY though, but I doubt we could find a birth certificate. I do have all his brothers and sisters names and Sylvester is not one of them. Grasping at straws, but am trying to track down a Jennie or Jane Hogan and her husband Sylvester McNamara. They are buried in Holy Cross Cemetery, NYC, according to a transcription of the Irish born tombstones. . . unfortunately, no dates are given. Do you have William's death certificate, which might provide his mother's name?
