This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Lickliter Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/hg.2ADI/593.2 Message Board Post: Hi Arlan! Are you still looking for the origin of your surname? It's "Americanized" German. Please go over to genforum.com and "Jump" to the Lichlyter family forum. If you read the reply to Jeffrey Lichlyter that I posted in March of last year you might learn something you didn't know. Lechleiders and Lechleiters are still in Germany today. Lechleiter seems to be the most common spelling as far as I can determine. I've done past searches of the telephone directories (Das telefonbuch) over the internet. The last time I ran into an Arlan Lickliter was in 1972 in Nora on the north side of Indianapolis. Arlan was my driver's ed. instructor. He was a basketball coach and math teacher at North Central High School and the father to Mark and Todd Lickliter. Todd was in a few of my classes in junior high. There were several Lickliters in the Indianapolis area when I was younger. I'm sure your closely related. Hope the information you read at genforum.com helps. Also, when your posting future querries about your family you really should try posting them in the Lickliter family message board. I ran across your posting by accident when I did a general search.--Neal
