Please contact me if you know anything about these people. William Cook b: abt 1830, Great Brittain, married Mary Hudson b: abt 1831, Great Brittain. Believed to have come to Coal Valley, IL area from England btwn 1868-1873. William A. Cook was a coal miner in IL and died in 1895 of being crushed to death by falling rocks. Children of William Cook and Mary Hudson : Zechariah William Cook b:1868 Oldham England Miriam Cook b: 1862 Oldham England Abraham Cook b: 1873 IL Zechariah Cook married Ellen Callahan 1890, Rock Island County, IL Zechariah Cook also married Malissa Luvinna Crawford 1899, Mercer County, IL at which time his name was changed from Cook to Cooke by mistake. Zechariah Cook was a coal miner, and was in the Spanish American War 1898 upon the USS Vermont. Children of Zechariah Cooke and Malissa Crawford : William E. Cooke b: Jan 1900 Esther E. Cooke b: July 1901 Vernon Cooke Frances F. Cooke b: July 1909 Irma Cooke Glen Cooke Raymond Cooke Charlotte Cooke Kenneth Cooke-died as a baby Lucille Cooke-died as a baby Miriam Cook, daughter of William and Mary Cook, married George William Grear 1888, Rock Island County, IL Abraham Cook, son of William and Mary Cook, married Phoebe Holdsworth 1894, Rock Island County, IL Esther Cooke, daughter of Zechariah and Malissa Cooke married Thomas Alford Raistrick. Esther (Cooke) Raistrick died Feb 14, 1929. Esther (Cooke) Raistrick had 4 children, some are still living so I wont post their names. However one child was Violet Cooke b: 1919 IL and d: 1985, IL Frances Cooke, daughter of Zechariah and Malissa Cooke, married John Ray in 1927, IL and she died Nov 2001. Some of the family listed here lived in surrounding areas such as Preemption, Cable and Matherville, that we know of. Some of this family also moved south in IL settling in Peoria County, IL around the early 1900's Thank you and God bless.
