Our ancestor Eliza Jane Tompson (often spelled Thomson) was the daughter of Cornelius Tomson/Thomson. She married Samuel Piersol in Rock Island Illinois. This was in the 1840's. Keep my name as when you get back a little further we may be related. We found very few Thomson/Tomson families in Rock Island/Mercer Co. during the late 1800's. We just returned from a 5 day genealogy finding trip to Mercer and Rock Island Co. Many of our Irish ancestors who came to Rock Island came from Ireland in a large group of friends & family. They moved to Ohio and then on to Rock Island, IL (Bowling TWP); then to Mercer Co. (Preemption TWP); then to What Cheer, Keokuk Co., Iowa; then to Scott, Poweshiek, Iowa; then to Nebraska then to Kansas then to Colorado. Maybe this will help down the road.
