Thank you for your kind offer of doing research on Andersonville prisoners of war. My ancestor, William Easling (Code #53419) is listed on the Andersonville website. On the bottom of his page of info is the line that reads "MORE INFORMATION AVAILABLE: YES" I would be interested in finding out what other information on him is available. Thanks for any help or info. Bonnie
I would like to welcome those of you new to this site and tell you there are some really great folks who are willing to help just for the asking. I, myself do Volunteer research at Andersonville Civil War Prison in Andersonville Georgia. There are Any research I do is absolutely at NO cost and I am willing to do what I can. There are 3282 prisoners on record from the state of Illinois and more than 1000 who died here, I thought I would send my offer. Here are my sources of research. There are 2 online databases to do lookups.....One by name...one by Company and Regiment. I also have a copy of the Dorence Atwater Death list which has the names and grave numbers of 12960 graves with only 460 marked as " UNKNOWN " This along with a CD I have which contains 34,000 names of the 45,000 who were imprisoned there which helps me find prisoner records because of misspellings of the names or alternate names. I visit the prison site every couple of weeks and have access to the onsite databases as well as the physical files. I would like to let you know of another service I offer which is to take photos of graves for a small fee. Please do not consider this spam as my research offer is FREE for the asking and will be posted on this county site only once. If there is anything I can do in helping your research at Andersonville, please just ask. Amy In the 1870 Census, taken on 12 July is Joseph Hoover at age 39 and his wife, Susan age 38 living in Mercer Township. Their children are John - age 17, George - age 15, Benjamin - age 13, James W. - age 11, Ellen - age 8, another male I can not make out - age 4 and Albert - age 1. Benjamin was the first born in Illinois, in 1857. The parents and other siblings were born in Pennsylvania the last being George in 1855. So, we know the family moved from Pa. to Illinois sometime between 1855 and 1857. In the 1880 Census, Joseph is 49 and Susan is 45 (who is she kidding?) Living with them are their children; Anne - age 8, William - age 5 and Walter - age 2. No clue as to what happened to the older siblings. Joseph was a well digger in 1870 and listed as a "laboring man" in 1880. I dont know how hard this will be for you, but if its too hard then dont worry about looking. I am looking for my gg grandfather and his family. He is Albert Mark Hoover born Mar 21, 1869 in Aleda, Mercer Co., Ill. However, I do not know his parents names or any siblings. I figure that since he was born in 1869 that the family may be in the 1870 census. I am positive that the Albert was in that town for all of his childhood though so they sould be there ?? > Please let me know if you can or cannot help. > I do lookups for free in Wa state if you need any. > Amy
