It was very comforting to go out there and finally locate some of my husband's family that we had been looking for for some time. St. Mary's cemetery is right next to it on the same side of the road, and they have a beautiful cross that adorns that cemeteries entrance. If you didn't know any better you'd think it was all one cemetery. :)

Don't ask me how as that is too involved. lol But Nadine Holder has a site that might have something on these families. Do a search for Historic Mercer County, Illinois and you should find it I think on the first page that comes on your screen. Alot of these people are buried in New Boston, Penniel and Aledo Cemeteries, as I remember seeing some of those names when we were out there last but I wasn't sure which ones were related to my husband's family so I didn't take pictures of their headstones.

    3. Charles Pomeroy is located north of Joy in Duncan Townshop. Pome-Roy (Royal Fruit) was named after an orchard that was established in Section 31 by Tyler McWhorter in 1845. Only a single building remains. Greenmound Cemetery is located on the east side of the village of Keithsburg. M. Retherford's farm was located adjacent to the orchard in the north-east corner of Section 31. Francis M. Harvey married Mahala Miller in Henderson County on December 9, 1874.
