Cochran: 1)enlisting 10 June 1862 in the 68th Illinois Infantry Co. G as a Private and mustering out as a Private in the Union Army at Camp Butler, Springfield, Illinois on 26 September 1862. 2) ) enlisting as a resident of Heyworth, McLean county, Illinois, Dec 15, 1863 in the 12th Illinois Calvary Regiment as a Private, mustered out as a Sargent in the Union Army. John C. raised family in Champaign Co., IL Maria (Myra) E. Cochran m. Samuel Sniff, second wife, had three children, died and buried at Shiloh next to her father, Franklin Rebecca Cochran m. Townsend Iden, both buried Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, Mc Lean, Illinois William George, m Anna M. Hunt at Waynesville, De Witt co., Illinois.
