    3. Carla, if I were you, I would see if someone is going to be going to the McLean County Courthouse. Maybe they can get the copy of the death certificate for you, or to make sure it is there before you order. Some nice people out there do it for free, other than the cost of the copy. It might be cheaper this way, also. Also, you might try the Illinois Archives at Normal, Illinois State University. They should have a copy. You might find someone who lives in that area willing to do lookups. By the way, what is the name of the person you are looking for? If you are not sure of the date, maybe someone can do a lookup of the 1920 Mclean County census. I have the Allin Township, Stanford that I am reviewing now. Good Luck, Shari I have the name and e-mail of Mary Rottmann, who does genealogy research for Springfield or South of there. My grandfather died in Bloomington in 1919. Mary got his death certificate for me, I believe from Springfield. She charges a very minimal fee for the copy--and that was it. It wouldn't hurt to e-mail her to see if she can help you. She also stated that if anyone is waiting for the free death certificates from the Illinois State Archives, the staff told her as of January 7, they have 17,855 requests left to fill!!! Her e-mail is rottmann@hotmail.com. If you have the name, she can at least check for you to see if they have it.
