Anyone with information on the military, can you tell me if the First Illinois Cav in 1907 was a National Guard unit? This unit was stationed in Bloomington, McClean Co., IL in Aug of 1907 I have sent to Washington DC for info, pension records, military records on either Peter Henry Claussen or Henry Peter Claussen who was killed 18 Aug 1907 in Bloomington, he was in Troop B First Illinois Cav - according to his obit - and was killed while cleaning his gun. So I would think there would be some kind of military records on him. Since Washington DC says "no information found" - could this unit be the Nationial Guard? Where would I find info if it was?
