I'm sure someone else knows all the "DETAILS" but they were giving away land in Nebraska at one time or it was VERY inexpensive and a lot of my allied families from Knox County, Illinois also went "west". We just discovered an old Journal of about 500 pages where she tells about her relatives going to Nebraska because of the land.
