Hi, Allen Weisinger! Hi, Mariane Carraway! Allen, you're my cousin from away back. Sarah Joder was the daughter of Joseph Joder of McLean County who was the brother of Amish bishop Jonathan Yoder. Jonathan was my gr-great grandfather. In the Lantz Cemetery just SE of Carlock, Ill., there is as Elizabeth (Miller) Birckalbaw buried, who had been the wife of Christian Birckalbaw. She died July 7, 1873 age 32 yr, 2 mos. There is also buried there Michael Birckalbaw, died Feb 2, 1869, son of Christian and Elizabeth. The above from McLean County Cemeteries, Vol 8, Dry Grove Township, p. 38. (Booklet can be purchased from the McLean County Museum of History in Bloomington.) Then in my genealogy data base I have a Christian Birchelban whose wife was Mary Schwartzentruber. They had two daughters: 1 Catherine --- who married a Peter Donner,, Sr. and they had a daughter, Catherine Donner. They came from Hesse to Wilmot Twp, Ontario in 1826, to Ohio in 1829, and came to Illinois in 1837. Daughter Catherine became the first wife of Amos Yoder (YR12a36) who was a son of bishop Jonathan oder( first cousin of Sarah Joder). 2 Elizabeth -- who married a Christian K. Miller. Eliz and Christian had two daughters: 2- 1 Elizabeth Birkelbaw Miller who married Joseph Stuckey [That item I got from Marriane awhile back) In Steven Estes history of the North Danvers Mennonite church Elizabeth's middle name was spelled "Birgelbaugh". 2 - 2 Magdalena Birchelban Miller, b.Oct 8 1852, married on September 16 1880 at Danvers, IL to Joash H. Stutzman, eldest child of Sarah Yoder [daughter of Jonathan and sister of Amos above] . Magdalena "Maggie" died March 1 1928 at Danvers, IL. [Magdalena's dates from "Descendants of Barbara Hochstetler and Christian Stutzman" by Harvey Hostetler, p. 673, family 10051] Note the spelling of Birchelban by the Hochstetler book. Joash H. Stutzman later in the century was a minister at the North Danvers Mennonite Church. Joash and Magdalena had several children: <Mary I. Stutzman, July 23, 1881- <David M. Stutzman, April 13, 1885 - ; on Jan 22 1914 married Mabel Petter (1891- ), daughter of H. Petty and Louisa Bright <Clarence F. Stutzman, Jan 2, 1890 - ; on Feb 26, 1926 married Clara Ummel (1899 - ), daughter of Chris Ummel and Marie Aeschilman ; they had a son born Feb 5 1928, John Charles Stutzman. Both Clarence and Clara were killed in an auto accident on March 1, 1928. Of course on the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index database are these: Jacob W. Birckelbaw who married Adda Yoder in McLean County on 03/31/1892, Vol J, page 0282 (Someone on the McLean-L forum mentioned this one this week.) Then there is Joseph W. Birkelbaw who married Fannie L. Calhoun in McLean County on 01/01/1891 vol J, page 0227. Jacob and Joe could be relatives? Also Phoebe -- see below? Also Phoebe A. Birckelbaw who married William A. Forbes in McLean County on 03/10/1891, Vol J, p. 237. I would be interested in other sightings. Jim Yoder <Joash Jr. Stutzman,Jan 17, 1892-1986. ----- Original Message ----- From: Marianne Carraway <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, September 14, 2000 8:07 PM Subject: [ILMCLEAN-L] Names Found > Norma, you are doing everyone a BIG service.
