Hi list, I am going to work on my family from a different angle... and see what I can find out about the daughter-in-laws/son-in-laws. I am looking for information on Sarah A. KERR. She susposedly married Israel SCHOOLEY on Mar 07, 1869 (location not specified). I have not found this marriage in the IL marriage database, regardless of the variations I have tried. This what I have found in the census and military databases: 1860 census index, De Witt Co, Town of De Wett, Israel Schooley, pg 254 (on previous page is his mother Eliza Schooley, pg 253) 1870 census, DeWitt Twp, IL, Israel Schooly (note spelling), 33, farmer, IL, Sarah A., 21, IN, Florene M., 6/12, IL. Also living with this household is Charles WILLIAMS, 13, farm laborer, IL, dwelling 94, family 95 (right next door to Presley Williams and 18 houses down from William Presely Williams who married Israel's sister Mary E. Schooley.) Israel is listed with a 1861-1862 list of white males, age 18-45, who were able-bodied and subject ot miltiary duty for the Civil War for DeWitt Twp. I can find no evidence he ever served. His brother Alfred did. A letter, dated March 6, 1913, address Beloit, KS, from Lucy A. Williams to her son Walter, says the "Papa helped your uncle Isael move yesterday." This may have been in reference to Israel. Another letter from Lucy to Walter, dated May 22, 1919, from Agate, CO, says "She is coming in a car with Isaes. They are bringing Ethel out here for her health." The surname for Sarah comes from family info (Israel Schooley's father Samuel's bible). Israel's father Samuel was first in McLean Co, and then in DeWitt Co.
