This is my friendliest list so thought I'd try hear for some help/advise, and basic answerers. Delete now if you hate this sort of thing. First, I have gone through the bloomington library to get obits, as someone here had suggested. They said they were all indexed, and so far I had excellent results, however, I knew the dates of death for the individuals I was looking for. Does anyone know if the obits are filed by surname, or if its by date? I am pretty sure my person would have an obit in Bloomington....although I'm not sure if he died there his family was very well known, and involved with the community..so I thought I would have a chance some listing would be there..I just don't have a death date. Next, rummers are the children were at a boarding school for a while wondered if there are any ways to find out for sure. There names were William Elmer Edwards, Katie Edwards, and Carlie Edwards. The family also too in a boy named Cedric Crane at some point too. There also was a bess from someplace. Is there a way to do a reverse lookup for a civil war pension. vets wife lived in Mclean, and I have her exact home address at the time of her death, and she was elegibable to receive benefits but don't know what tho do to find info. I know my solderer was wounded at the battle of Antietum (sp?) (sp) his jaw shot away, and possibly a shoulder wound. He did survive, but shrapnel eventually lead to led poisoning. Next, is the 1930 census on cd yet? We Finally got a computer and am dying to start getting some disks to do lookups, and store my info. Can you check disks out from the libraries? This is my first time with this. Sorry for all the questions but thought I'd get them all over with at once. If repeated myself from previous posts I'm sorry. For pay back I have several cemetery books I am willing to do lookups in for mclean county...pervading it doesn't g overboard, You just need to be real specific with your requests.
