    3. Jean, I found some of my ancestors in Canada in the 1881 Canada census on the Church of Latter Day Saints website. It is www.familysearch.org/ Click the 1880 US, 1881 Canada Census on the left side. When filling in the blanks for the information, wait for it to downloading. A red "loading" word comes across by the word you typed in. Just takes a second. I had better results putting in the last name only, Birthplace Country, race or etnic background. If you know specifics, you can try that. The lists opf names that come up can be long. I just sorted through the names and checked those that I thought dates or names correlated to what I already had. There is a download you can do, also. I found the download gives basically the same info that you first see. Where the census took place is at the bottom of each page, i.e. for Sarah Reynolds, Sarnia, Lambton, Ontario. Some of them were found in Thamesville, Botwell, Ontario, and Cariboo, New Caledonia, Omineca, British Columbia. Thamesville and Sarnia are close to Detroit and Port Huron Michigan over the border. I could not find New Caledonia, Omineca, British Columbia on Atlas. Did find Cariboo River and Mountain Range in central British Columbia around Prince George. British Columbia is on the Western part of Canada. I assume this is where a lot of gold mining went on. It lists my ancestor as a gold miner. Hope this helps, and Good Luck Shari Apparently my granddmother and her brother were living with an uncle or other relative at the time. I know for a fact who my granddmother's parents were. It also shows that the relative she was living with was born in the USA, but of Irish origin. Maybe other relatives lived there, and they were on "extended visit" at the time.
