Robert, I checked on the church information at the historical museum library this weekend. I checked thorugh the card catalogue, archive contents, church histories, and did a further check in some biographical/historical-type books. I found that you were most fortunate to have gained what information that you already have. I don't believe I found additional references to the Bethel on Mackinaw church that you were seeking, but here's some of what little there was from various sources: --It is deeply regretted that the early records of the beginings of most church histories have been lost.... --Too many churches have come and gone to be mentioned... --The Rev. E. Rhodes, a Free-Will Baptist minister...made his home here and preached many times in McLean County... --The Baptist Church at Bloomington is a pioneer having been organized in 1837. It is occupying its fourth sturcture, having progressed quite rapidly in wealth and membership... There were several church histories on the above mentioned Baptist Church (it became First Baptist), but none of the names you mentioned were listed. To contact the library directly with historical questions contact Pat Hamiliton at [email protected] I don't know if she responds to research questions herself or passes them on to volunteers. She is very helpful and very knowledgable about the library resources, but I would guess that they charge a research fee for inquiries. Good luck on your research, Lisa _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
