Thanks Amy, for the partial obit. I will contact The Pantagraph. Just having Dean's death date was a big help. Thanks again, Shari

Perhaps there are 2 Long Points. There is one in Livingston Co. If you go to google.com and type in "Long Point, IL" it will show you several sites for that area. I just did a quick glance but there are some cemeteries listed. Peg J > Martha, I checked my Long Point Cemetery Registry. Long Point is in DeWitt County. There is no Sears listed at this cemetery. That does not mean that he isn't there. My grandparents and gr-grandparents are there. They have only 6" by 6" concrete markers. Most of the funeral homes I contacted only have later years of death records. You might try the DeWitt County Genealogical Society. It is well worth the ten dollars. They charge $10.00 for researching each name. I got a wealth of information that I never thought I would find, including my gr-grandfather's true name. > You could contact several churches around Saybrook to see if they have any listings. > Hope this helps, > Shari > > > ==== ILMCLEAN Mailing List ==== > > Email or ISP changes: unsubscribe your old email address prior to the change effective date. Is there someone that can do a fairly current obit lookup for me? I am looking for the obit of Mr. Dean Reynolds, who passed away sometime in November or December of 2002. Dean Reynolds died in Bloomington, IL. I would think his obit would be at the library or Pantagraph. I know that the Pantagraph sends a lot of their obits to the library. He was the son of my Great Uncle Irvin Reynolds and my Gr Aunt Laura Rousey Warner Reynolds. I wrote to his widow, Hazel Provin Reynolds, but realized that she may be in failing health, probably around 92-94 years old, and can't answer my letter. Dean was the grandson of James D. and Isabella Reynolds of Wapella, my gr-grandparents. Would love to know if Dean and Hazel have children or grandchildren that I could get in touch with. Laura Rousey was the aunt of my father, Cameron Phillips Sr. His line is McGinnis/Rowzie/Rousey/Phillips. I know that some are skeptical to give out such current info due to privacy issues. If anyone feels uncomfortable in searching for this obit, I will contact the Bloomington Public Library. I live in Beaufort, SC., so I can't get this info on my own. Hope someone can help. I may have asked you folks in Mclean County this question before. Since a lot of you have ancestors buried in Long Point, does anyone know if Sugar Grove Cemetery and Wapella Cemetery are, in fact, Long Point. My late mother showed several of my brothers where her parents and grandparents were buried. They are buried together in Long Point with 6" x 6" concrete posts. However, my gr-grandfather and gr-grandmother's obit says one was buried in Sugar Grove, and the other in Wapella Cemetery. I have written to Camille Redmon, who I was told was the lady in charge of cemeteries for Town of Wapella. I even tried to call her long distance. Have had no reply. Would like to put small headstones at my ancestors gravesite, but need proof that they are there, i.e., plot card or map. This is driving me crazy. I don't know what avenue to take next to find a plot map or card. I guess I could write to the Town Council. Answered my own question! Thanks, Shari

I am in need of some help from a good Samaritan. I have been looking for information on my great grandfather, David S. Sears born abt. 1834 in New York. He married Harriet Crose in Illinois November 1, 1857 in McLean County, Illinois. I need information including his death date/place, parents, siblings etc. I am unable to trace my line beyond him despite lots of attempts. I have sent for marriage records, but in 1857 parents and birthdate, etc. were not recorded. I believe he died and was buried in Illinois between 1861 (the birth of my grandfather) and 1867 (when his wife remarried). There are no records of him that I can find after the 1860 census where he was living in Waynesville, Dewitt County with his wife and 2 children, Effie and George. His wife remarried to a man named John Padgett. She is buried in Saybrook, Illinois and I know lived on a farm there and raised her family there. I believe it is likely that David Sears may be buried one of the cemeteries in or around Saybrook. Does anyone have the listings of people buried in those cemeteries. If so, could you kindly look to see if he is there. Any information is appreciated including advice on how else to proceed. I think I have exhausted all of my leads. Thanks. For the person researching "Zirkle," there were several living in my hometown of Rantoul, Champaign County. I went to school in Rantoul with several Zirkles, and a Zirkle family lived down the street. Wish I could remember their names. The mom an dad are buried in Maplewood Cemetery, Rantoul, IL. I think the cemetery is actually listed as in the Township of Ludlow. Shari
I just stopped by The Fort in Lexington to be sure of the hours. They are Tuesday through Saturday from 9-3.
>From an old cemetery worker. The cards are called "Plot." They list the names and the location of the burials on the plot card. Beverly
Carol, there are also Zirlkes buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, LeRoy, Il, Empire Township. Zirkle, Samuel H., Feb 10, 1859 - Nov 14, 1943 and family, if this is of any help. Judy
Carol, There are Downings buried in Oak Grove Cemeter, LeRoy, McLean, Illinois.... John M. Sept 22, 1822 - July 21, 1871 and his family. Would they be any connection? I have some of the McLean County Cemetery listings published by the McLean County Genealogical Society. Downs, doesn't happen to be one of them however.
Would someone help me to find out if there are any Downing or Zirkle gravesites in Hopewell Cemetery in Downs, Illinois McLean County. Would someone have transcribed the gravesites? Thank you, Carol leila2@prodigy.net
I looked at my cemetery deed, and it says "plot." I have been using the word plot in all my correspondence. Hope this helps. Shari
