Helen, I have many Brocks. My great grandmother was Margaret BROCK, daughter of Mosbey and Evaline Rhodes BROCK. She married to Morris E. (M E) BRITTIN. Their son, Roy V. married Tressie McComb Sprague. I believe her husband's name was Gedes Sprague. I have lots of Brock and Brittin info to share, not much on Sprague. Hope this connects to yours. Just go to www.usgenweb.com/il. Then go to county selections. Click on DeWitt. There are several links. All the links are in red. Obituaries are at the top right of the screen. There is listing of cemeteries, pictures of cemeteries that have tombstones, some have a list of names. Newspaper Abstracts, Life and Times. Just click on the link you would like to see. The censuses are on the right side of screen. For the obituaries, click obituaries, select the initial of the surname you are looking for. Many of the obituaries starting at the very beginning have a lot of info in them with different surnames, i.e. Mrs. Mary Miller Mead was married to David Barclay Jr. Other names appear as family members, pallbearers, etc. A lot of the obits are for people fro all over, KY, VA, OH, KS, etc. For the Newspaper Abstracts from the Clinton Public, there is 1885 and 1887 in purple, click one of those dates and it gives abstracts for the months of those years. Just Browse. T! here is a lot of info here. You just have to seek, and you will find. Many of these families in the DeWitt, Clinton, Effingham, and Crawford Counties moved into Mclean Co. I have browsed these different counties to find my ancestors in DeWitt Co and Mclean Co. Shari

Donna, I am not sure if this is the same Brittin, but there is a family Brittin from around LeRoy. A lady by the name of Helen Hume is a historian there. She has many Brittians, Brittins in her family. I can give you her address. She does not have e-mail. Every Saturday she sits at the Crumbaugh Museum waiting for someone to come by. The museum is at 405 E. Center St. LeRoy, IL 61752. and is open from 1-4 p.m. Helen has volumes of LeRoy history. Maybe she can help you. A John Thomas Hume married Irene Brittin Dec 29, 1915. John comes from a well-to-do Hume family that came from Scotland. John's father married Ann Stone, cousin of President Arthur. The Brittin's are also in with the Swearingen family. By the way, Helen is 74 years old, and still going strong!!!! If you have a particular Brittin in mind, I may have some things that Helen sent to me while researching my Reynolds. Shari

I am doing a lot of my research for my ancestors in DeWitt Co. Found many PHARES. In the obituary link, Amy Phares married a L. S. McGraw. It was his obit. In the pictures of cemeteries, there are Phares married to Story family. They have a listing of names for Fairview Cemetery. Original Land Grants for DeWitt Co has Abner R. Phares, pg 15. There is mention of Phares in the link Newspaper Abstract. 1860 DeWitt Census images 514, 594, 589 has PHARES. Hope this helps some. You may already have all this info. Shari

There are many from this family listed in the link for pictures of cemeteries. Check for Fairview Cemetery. Also, many Miller names in the Obituary section, as well in some of the pictures of cemteries. Also, check out the Newpaper Abstract link and the Life and Times Link.
