I am looking for information of these families who came to McLean Co about 1830 George King Thompson came from Va and Ohio with his wife Anstis. Their son Franklin was born in VA in 1826 , a daughter Mary was born in Ohio in 1827 and a son William also in Ohio in 1829. Elizabeth was born in McLean Co, Il in 1832. George King Thompson died in McLean Co about 1833 and his wife Anstis married Matthew Coverdale in 1835 in McLean Co. Franklin, the eldest son, married Sarah Elizabeth French in 1846 and had two sons Charles and William in McLean Co. before moving to Iowa. The French family is said to have come to Illinois from Ohio about the same time. At least they were there in 1846 when Franklin and Sarah Elzabeth were married. Does any of this ring a bell with anyone out there. I would love to fill in details about this family and can share information about Franklin and Sarah Elizabeth's descendants. Happy 4th, Helen Thompson, AZ

Dear Valerie, I am assuming you are talking about a request from Illinois Regional Archive Depository. I have written out my requests every time and have always received the documents (and sometimes more than I asked for) if I'm patient. The volunteers are wonderful, but very busy. I'm sure you can hand write it, just remember to put the county of request. (I forgot once....how dumb!) I currently subscribe to NORCAL, a very active list in northern California where I saw this. These folks have gone to great lengths to preserve the cemeteries in their county and record their histories. I thought you might like to see it. Hello List, I am hoping that someone has access to the 1860 McLean County census. I am interested in the following: John G. Pope and his wife Sarah (would be approximately 21 years old). Thank You, Deborah
Is there anyone who can look up the 1860 census for McLean County and see if they can find James T. Phillips and whoever might be listed with him at the time of the census. This would be in the Downs or Delta area since Downs once was called Delta?? Any information would be appreciated. ~~DEBBIE FROM ILLINOIS~~

Hi, I live in Downs, IL and I am looking for any type of town history concerning pioneers families, school pictures, church socials etc. Looking for PHILLIPS, HONNOR,TETER,CLARK, REYNOLDS,. I have been researching since 1993 and thought it would not hurt to see if others might have info this way. Particularly looking for information on JAMES THOMPSON PHILLIPS. I need to know his parents. He was raised here and married Martha Killion from Downs. I have his obit from I believe 1928 and his parents not named. One of his daughters was Mrs. Adolph Roggy. Ring any bells? Thanks! ~~DEBBIE FROM ILLINOIS~~

My ggg grandparents Mathias & Ursula (Fischer) RICKERT came to the US in 1854 settling in Maytown, Lancaster Co. Pa. His children are as follows: Martin (Mathias), John, Joseph, Mary (Maria), Nathan (Ignatz), Annie, Fanny and Elizabeth. First 5 children were born in Baden, Germany and immigrated with their parents. Martin, Joseph & John moved west. John changed the spelling of RICKERT to RICKER. Found John & Joseph in 1870 Gridley Twp., McKean Co. Illinois. Also found John in 1880 census same place. I have very little information on Martin. According to their sister Annie's estate papers Martin died 24 Oct 1923 in the mid west. He supposedly was a Minister and possibly went to Kansas. He had 4 sons, Joseph, Samuel, Andrew and William. I have no dates for his sons and no wife. I have corresponded with descendants of all the RICKERT children except for Martin & Joseph. Joseph was not mentioned in Annie's estate papers, so I am assuming that he died and never married. I would like to find and correspond with descendants of Martin. I will gladly share the information that I have on my RICKERTS. Shirley
