Hi Everyone, I have several articles with regards to Arrowsmith, IL (McLean County) that I obtained for my own family research over the weekend at the McLean County Historical Society. The articles have lots of great information about this little town and alot of surnames are mentioned. There are a few biographies about some of the residents, etc (mostly the late 1800's). I also have a page of the census from 1920 and a page from 1900 (arrowsmith township). Anyone who would like me to look through these articles for your own surname, please email me. I would be happy to take a look for you. I also have a family "picture Postcard" book that has a few local pictures, some correspondence, etc in that if it could be of help. Thanks Leslie Maurice
My ex-husbands family had resided in Galesburg, IL (not far from McLean Co) and they moved to Hastings NB sometime after the Civil War was over. Perhaps there was an incentive for Veterans to move to that area?? Since the name Bricklebaw seems to have stirred some interest, I will post the little I have on this name. It isn't much as it the married name of a g-g-great aunt. My g-great grandfather, Abraham Z. Yoder married Sarah Joder. They had five daughters. 1.Emma Rebecca b. 3 Dec 1853 m. Jacob F. Lantz and moved to Nebraska 2.Mary Elizabeth b. 19 Feb 1855 m. Jeptha L. Lantz and moved to Nebraska 3.Catherine Ann (my great grandmother) b. 26 May 1857 m. Samuel Lorenzo Burns and moved to Nebraska 4.Sara Frances b. 5 May 1859 m. George F. Knapple and moved to Nebraska 5.Adda H. m. Jacob Bircklebaw and stayed in Illinois I think The only way I know of Adda is that her mother's obit says that she died in the home of her daughter, Adda Bircklebaw (that was how it was spelled) in the obit. Willing to bet it was a misspelling and should be Bricklebaw. Sue Marianne Carraway wrote: > > Norma, you are doing everyone a BIG service. This book is chipping too bad to search,so I`m sending it to the list boss, others have suggested this too,so it won`t be destroyed, Most of you have ancestorial names on it, There is also a wonderful poem about the writer, calling back to Danvers,20 years later, and asking about people, and it gives names, and occoupations, such as he asks about Abbot, the postmaster, and on and on.Also for the ones interested in the Vance name you may be interested in the clippings included in the scrap book from the tribune inHastings, Nebraska, that is connected.to them,I still canot believe the amount of mail I received to my post, loved it, but you might have had better luck posting me through the list,as some of are working on the same lines....in re the list of names I posted last night looked find, then when it was on the list it ran clear off the page, don`t know what caused it, the Bricklebaw one of you asked about was an obit.I hope you all find your family, this has been great fun, aga! in I`m sorry I`m not able to search thes for each ofyou but I know tou will understant, and your list boss wants to see that they are preserved to serveyou all, I hopethe mail isgentle with them and theyarrive ok....Norma - ------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Norma, you are doing everyone a BIG service. I, too, am interested in Bricklebaw (and Stuckey, Bennett, Gaddis, Swartzentruber and Miller in Danvers and Colfax). Could I ask is it possible to scan the pages or can you only transcribe them? Thanks for any help you can give us all. Marianne
