All of my kin lived and many died in Central Illinois. I am in need of information on Henry MORGAN who married Frances CRAWFORD, Helrick CRAWFORD married Phebe POTTS, Charles L. CRAWFORD married Nettie MORGAN, Henry CRAWFORD married Myrtle FIFIELD. Most of them lived in Atlanta, LeRoy, McLean & Bloomington. Any leads would be much appreciated. Please contact me at '[email protected] Thank You Joe Scott
Does anyone know where (leaving Bloomington, IL) what was called Old Randolph road leading to Burns Crossing. Both of these were near interurban tracks. Would like to pinpoint this location (about 1917). Thanks for any assistance. Judy from Normal, IL
Could someone please lookup in the Census for 1890-1891 to find a John David Layer or David Layer. His wife was Augusta Baker and he had a daughter named Clara A. Layer b. abt 1869. Thank you for doing the lookup. Doug
I should have mentioned that I already did try the on-line BLM site and found that none of my family were listed, even though I am certain that at least one of them should have records. I have ordered records before in California, but the necessary information was on-line to get mestarted. Thanks, Lisa _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. This is an 'out-of-state' question, but can anyone on the list tell me how to go about getting the specific information needed to fill out Form 84 for ordering land entry records? I know the person's name, county, township and year of arrival in Iowa, but need to know the remaining info. There is an address to write to on Form 84, but I am hoping for a quicker way as to beat the rate increase. Thanks for any help on this, Lisa _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!
Hello everyone,my name is Kenneth I am looking for a way to find an Email address or his address in Nashvill Tennesse. The name is John Conlee. I would be very thankfull for any help finding this information.
New to this list researching the IRWIN & DYKE families. My grandmother was Alice Maria IRWIN and her parents Daniel IRWIN and Narcissa H. DYKE. Any relatives or researches please contact me. Ann Lasseter
I am trying to find information about two daughters of William Hine (or Hines or Heins) [14 Feb 1834-25 Dec 1874] and Anna M. Yoder [7 Feb 1840] who were born between 1870 and 1875. The parents were married in McLean County on 1 October 1865. They were living at nearby Secor, Woodford County, in the 1870 census and were living in Tazewell County, also near McLean County, at William's death in 1874. In the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index, there are three Hines women listed as marrying in McLean County within the possible age range. I wonder if anyone has a connection to any of these grooms with information that might show who the bride's parents were: Charles Straub married Elizabeth Hines on Feb 26, 1891. Herman Prahn married Minnie Hines on 06 Oct 1887. (This may be a long shot, as Minnie would be 16 or younger if she belonged to William and Anna's family.) Albert Newbauer married Rose E. Hines on 25 Nov 1897. Thanks for your help. Jim Yoder
I am searching for any information on the Lott family. They lived mainly around Bloomington. I do not have much info on George Abner Lott and William Harrison Lott. Is anyone else doing Lott research? Thanks, Dee

To those interested in the Flesher Family in McLean County: I did a bit a digging on the Flesher family today as there appears to be a number of interested researchers. The family had its roots in Virginia, moved to Ohio for a period of time and then came to McLean County in a few waves. The oldest Fleshers that appear here are Coonrod Flesher circa 1835 (?), Henry Flesher circa 1831, and John Flesher circa 1841. I am not sure how they are related but all appear to follow the same migration pattern as far as I can tell. The linage of Coonrod can be found in his ancestral file on at www.familysearch.com. Of the 14 children listed, Benjamin, Madison, Solomon, and Thomas J. all show up in the 1840 McLean County census, which I believe was the earliest census taken. It appears that there are IGI records on many of the various other family members as well. This is what is listed about Henry Flesher & John Flesher in the Soldiers of the Revolution & the War of 1812 Buried in McLean County by Milo Custer: Flesher, Henry, b. Highland County, Virginia, Sept. 2, 1784. Private, ? Capt .s Company, .Regt, Virginia Militia, War of 1812. Settled in McLean County, Ill. About 1830, d. near Lexington, Ill. Oct. 1, 1850. Buried in Indian Field Cemetery, Sec. 20, Lexington Township, McLean County, Ill. (Information from AV Pierson, Lexington, Ill, 1911. See also History of McLean County, Ill. 1879, Page 480) Wife, Susan (Popejoy) Flesher, ch. Harrison Flesher, Perry Flesher, William Flesher, Henry Flesher (3), Caroline (Flesher) Flesher, Catharine (Flesher) Paul, Mary (Flesher) Popejoy. Flesher, John, b. Highland County, Virgina, Feb. 16, 1792. Lietenant, Capt. Jesse Henkles Company, 5th Regt. Virginia Militia, July 21, 1814, to Dec. 16, 1815. Settled in McLean County, Ill, 1841 d. near Lexington, Ill. April 29, 1868. Buried in Scroggins Cemetery, Lexington, Ill. (Grave Marked, Society of 1812, No. 164) Wife, Mary (Siebert) Flesher, ch. Jesse Flesher, Peter Flesher, George Flesher, Catharine (Flesher) Turnipseed-Vanderventer, John Flesher, Jr. Mary (Flesher) Jones, Alcinda (Flesher) Flesher, Elizabeth (Flesher) Blake, Andrew Flesher, William M. Flesher. There are bios on Peter, John Jr. and William M. in the Portrait & Biographical Album of McLean County if you are interested. It appears to me that Josiah Flesher is the son of Jesse Flesher who is listed above. In the 1860 census (transcription), they are in adjacent households. Jesse was 55 born in Va and his wife was Catharine 48 also born in Virginia. I ran out of time and was not able to place Charles and Harry, but perhaps you can use this information combined with what is on the LDS site to find their linage. I do have a few more names written down if you come up with anything else you want me to check. Hope this helps, Lisa McLean County _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. Ellen: I have two Fleshers who could be of the age range to be grandsons or great-nephews of Harrison Flesher and Sarah: Charles B. Flesher, b. September 29, 1866; m. March 8 1890 to Louise Salina (Lina) Yoder [daughter of Amos Yoder YR12a36 and Catherine Kistler Lantz Yoder, both of whom died in McLean County.] Lina Yoder and Charles B. Flesher had two daughters that died in infancy. Lina died June 4 1951 in Cisco Tx. Harry Ellsworth Flesher, b. Feb. 22, 1868; m. Oct 1 1890 to Minnie A. Yoder; later lived in AZ, poss. died there. [Minnie Yoder was a sister of Lina Yoder above; the two Fleshers may have been brothers.] Harry and Minnie had two children: 1. Russell Raymond "Dick" Flesher, b. Russell Raymond Flesher and _____ Yoder had two children: 1.Polyana Flesher, who was living in SW AZ in 1951. 2.Dickie Flesher, also living in SW AZ in 1951. {data from "Descendants of Amos YR12a36 Yoder" paper compiled by Gordon Yoder of Dallas, TX} You have probably already checked the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index where there are a good page of Flesher grooms (including all the above) and an even longer page of Flesher brides. There may have been at least two lines of Fleshers as several Flesher grooms married Flesher brides. Many of them were married in McLean County. But the Harry Flesher above appears in the list just below your Harrison Flesher who married Sarah Spahr. Maybe Harry's real name was Harrison? a grandson perhaps? Marilyn, I don't have any connection to the Spawr family here in McLean County but I have just posted biographical information on them at the Rootsweb site for you. Johan Valentine Spawr must have been commonly called Valentine as that is how he is always referred to in the bios. There are also biographies for two of his sons, Jacob and George. There may be more information in these two books I checked, but I don't have a complete index to either here at home. You can check out the biographies at this URL: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Il/McLeanBios There was mention of a Conrad Flesher of Lexington Township who might be a good candidate to check into further as a father/other relative of Harrison Flesher. When I get to the library next time, I can check the plat maps from 1866 and 1874 to see if that would yield some clues for you. Let me know if this would be helpful. A recent township map of McLean County can be found at the address below--at least it may help you in terms of locating the various sites mentioned in the biographies. http://www.mcfb.org/oldbarns/townshipmaps.htm As these are all very early settlers here in McLean County, you likely would find land records available through IRAD--probably where you already found the marriage records you mentioned in your query.
