    1. Re: [ILMCLEAN-L] BAIZE BIBLE
    2. L. S.
    3. Debbie, I have the query printed off in my McLean County file. It looks as if it was from a member of the Baize family Ellen (Short) Baize e-mail [email protected] It said her husbands grandparent lived in McLean County for some years. The family Bible belonged to a Webb family and has mostly Webb names listed-no Baizes. I remembered this as a Baize family Bible also--must have been the unusual surname over powering the more common one! 1. [ILMCLEAN-L] Deadmore
    2. Lesley Hager
    3. Thank you so much Lisa! That would be wonderful to check the city directory. I have no details other than he married in 1897 in LaSalle Co. to Mary Sand & he died by being hit by a freight train & he had has job listed as railroad brakeman, residence McLean Co. IL. They had no children & she died 1 year after him. There is a chance he was dead by 1900... & her too. They also could have been old with no children. He is not listed in the IL Death Index 1916-1947, so my guess is they died before 1916. I just don't know. I will send for their death certificates when I can narrow down some years. Then I can also look for a newspaper account. Thank you for your time, Lesley - --------------------------------------------- FREE! 1. [ILMCLEAN-L] Land Entry Files/NOT OnLine
    2. M Swartz
    3. Thanks to the many of you who responded to my question about obtaining the information necessary to complete Form 84 when the info wasn't online. There were many helpful suggestions including searching the online BLM site thoroughly http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/search/search.asp, entering various spellings of the surnames, and entering the state and county only without a surname. My searching still yielded no results as Iowa isn't scheduled to be completed online until 2004 so I contacted the BLM for the eastern states via e-mail and this was the reply: "The records that are not available at the GLO Records Website are indexed by land description: section, township and range. We MUST have this to search our records. Our research fee is $15.00 prepaid. You can sometimes learn this info by contacting the local ara courthouse" This prepaid $15.00 fee is to obtain the information needed to complete Form 84 in its entirety thus increasing the chances of the file being located. It would then cost an additional $10.00 ($17.75 after November 13, 2000) to obtain the land entry files from NARA. Who said genealogy was an inexpensive hobby!!?? As NARA only charges if they locate the files, I decided I had nothing to lose by sending in Form 84 with the information that I already have. In my situation, I don't expect the files to contain significant amounts of new genealogical information but simply want to satisfy my curiousity and learn precisely where they lived, see their signatures, etc. Hope this helps someone, Lisa _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. 1. [ILMCLEAN-L] Lavina Poland Obit
    2. M Swartz
    3. Gail, I have checked for obits for the five names that you asked me to look for. The only thing that I found was a short funeral notice for Lavina Poland in the Bloomington Pantagraph. I don't do that many obit look-ups but the ones that I have have been very spotty. In addition, I was finding very little of any kind of Secor news in our local paper--it's not exactly in our backdoor. Secor may have had a local paper during the time periods you are looking for. You might try calling their library or checking with the state historical society and see if anything exists and if it would be available on microfilm. Did anyone from your Furman line ever make it here to McLean County? I found a short biography for A.D. Furman and believe I spotted his gravesite at Evergreen (Old City) Cemetery not long ago. If you will send me your mailing address, I will put this in the mail for you. Lisa McLean County The Pantagraph Friday, August 30, 1943 Memorial services for Mrs. Henry Poland of Kappa will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, in the Church of Christ, Secor, with burial in Secor cemetery. Friends may call at the Otto-Vincent Mrmorial home in El Paso until the hour for services. 1. [ILMCLEAN-L] Ida Elizabeth Johnson
    2. malcolm cole
    3. I'm new to this list. I have just found out that one of my mother's little sisters died while the parents lived in Bloomington, IL. She supposedly is buried there. This child was born to Jacob Christian Petersen Johnson and Elizabeth Pauline Scheller. Ida Elizabeth Johnson was born about May 6, 1893. She died August 10, 1893. My grandfather may have been employed as a coal miner somewhere Bloomington. I am not sure how to go about trying to find oud which cemetery she might be buried in. This family moved to Macoupin County December 3, 1894 when their second child was born in Dotty Cole Lake Mary, FL
