    3. To everyone: Hi. Thanks for all of your help. I hope you have all enjoyed the site. I have a lot more scap books to go through, and so I will be posting everyday. I hope that you check back when you all can. I do have some fun stuff that I will post from Illinois. I think you all will enjoy. My site is once again about the ALEXANDER families. I had previously posted 50 unidentified pictures from McLean Co., Ill, New Jersey, and Nebraska. Now there are more. Some I posted that my family knows, like my great grandfather, etc. I am on different mailing lists, which is why I have done that. I hope that I have answered some questions about my site that I have received. I would be more than happy to give a password to anyone that wants one. If you need a new one, it will only take me a few seconds to set you up with one. Let me know what you think, and I will try to improve. Thanks once again to all. Suzanne

    3. Hi Suzanne, I am trying right now to identify a family photo, so I've been searching the internet to find ways to "date" this old photo. I found this site: http://www.genealogy.org/~ajmorris/photo/photo.htm It says: "The tintype was introduced in 1856, and enjoyed widespread popularity until about 1900. The tintype gets its name from the fact that the image is produced on a thin metal plate. Like the Daguerreotyp and Ambrotype, the emulsion was directly exposed in the camera, without any need for a negative, so the images are often unique. (In later years, cameras with multiple lenses were developed so that as many as a dozen tintypes could be exposed at once.) During the 1860's and 70's small tintypes were often placed in CDV sized cardboard mounts." Pam Haithcock

    1. First Illinois Cav 1907
    2. Harold Miller
    3. Anyone with information on the military, can you tell me if the First Illinois Cav in 1907 was a National Guard unit? This unit was stationed in Bloomington, McClean Co., IL in Aug of 1907 I have sent to Washington DC for info, pension records, military records on either Peter Henry Claussen or Henry Peter Claussen who was killed 18 Aug 1907 in Bloomington, he was in Troop B First Illinois Cav - according to his obit - and was killed while cleaning his gun. So I would think there would be some kind of military records on him. Since Washington DC says "no information found" - could this unit be the Nationial Guard? Where would I find info if it was? Thank you so much. Mary [email protected]

    1. Re: IRAD Marriage Records
    2. IRAD has the marriage register. If they have the marriage record, they did not have it for my family members. My grandparents were married 1907, great-grandparents 1872. I got my great-grandparents names, great-great grandparents names, occupations, where they lived, etc. from the records I received. (And what a thrill! I didn't have them before). McLean County and several other counties are kept at Illinois State, but each IRAD (they are at several major universities) has records for specific counties. Peoria County, for example, is at Western Illinois University. If you browse the state of Illinois website, you can find a list of which records are kept at which universities. I have found that sometimes, for certain records, the University has not been sent the records, even when they are supposed to have them. I've also found that some universities are VERY slow. Illinois State is very prompt, however. Hope that helps.

    3. Hi! Ok. I just received everyone's messages. I sent everyone who replied an invitation that will read ALEXANDER. It will also give another email account of mine which is [email protected] That way, you all know that it is me who sent you the information. I want to thank everyone who replied. If you have any trouble, please let me know. I have had a trouble getting the passwords to work correctly. I can send you all a new one in no time, if that seems to be the case. The pictures have some streets, and most all of them have the photographers listed. I will continue updating my tree, and so on in the future. Please let me know what you think of the unidentified pictures, and thanks to everyone in advance!!! Suzanne
