I found a William Reynolds in the Barren County, KY 1850 census. He is listed as 69 yrs of age. This would make his birth or baptismal year at 1781. Wife is Mary Ann, age 40. Children are: Naoma E., age 15, Purlina, age 11, Robert L., age 10, Frances, age 8, William R. age 6, and Joseph M., age 1. You can access this at www.rootsweb.com/~cenfiles/ky/barren/1850/district1. I forgot to right down the text, but it should be easy to find. Also found these Reynolds: Malinda, age 37, children (I assume)-Louisa, George W., Eliza J., Lucy A., and John G. Reynolds. Children's ages range from age 16 to age 8. Wellington Reynolds, age 32, Rhody, age 28, children: John W., Mary J., Elizabeth F., Emily A., and William Mclean living with them. William's age is 1 year old. Their text number is pg 0328b.txt--same e-mail address as above.
Gail, I forgot to give the location for the Emma Schoenfeld. it was also in Chicago, CooK, IL, same film but page 480A. Margie Bridges
Dear Gail: I did a search for Emma Schoenfeldt in Illinois and no luck. Searched for John, and with that spelling there is only one: peddler of notions, age 57, he and parents born Saxon; with wife Augusta Schoenfeldt, keeping house, age 32, she and parents born Saxon; with Anna Nitzsche, seamstress, 28, sister-in-law, single, she and parents born Saxon. They weren't in McLean Co., though. Found in Chicago, Cook Co., IL. FHL film 1254196, National Archives Film T9-0196. Page 514C. I tried Emma with spelling as Schoenfeld and found one as daughter of Doris Schoenfeld, widowed, keeping house, age 33, with parents and herself from Germany; Emma was single, age 14, born IL, both parents born Germany. With them was William Schoenfeld, son, 11, IL, parents from Germany; and Robert Schoenfeld, son, 8, IL, parents born Germany. Can you think of any other names to try? Margie Bridges
Dear Listers: I really need some help or direction on this one! I am looking for the death record and hopefully an obituary for an Abashaba Carter/Carttar who was born July 5, 1816 in New Jersey. We believe that she died in McLean County on March 7, 1859, after having given birth to a son, Levi E. Carter, on February 14, 1859. Levi died April 18, 1859. The dates come from a family bible. We believe she died in McLean County because of her son, Samuel Arthur Fox Carter's obituary. See below: Death of Mr. Samuel A. Carter (Died July 22, 1894) Sunday morning at 1:30, at his home two miles southeast of the city, occurred the death of Mr. Samuel A. Carter. He had been sick with consumption for six months past and suffered much. He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on April 1, 1846, and moved to this state when but 10 years old. His people settled in Smith's grove near Towanda, where most of this life was passed. He lived for four years in Kearney, Neb., and upon returning went to the farm where he died. His home was what was known as the Pearson place. He leaves a wife and one child, a daughter, 13 years old. The funeral notice will be found in another column. No date. The second little clipping on the page may have been to identify the newspaper/town. It indicated only Bloomington, ILL. If, his family did in fact move to McLean County in 1856 when he was 10, they were probably there when Abashaba Edwards Carter died with her infant son. We have been searching for Abashaba for a couple of years. We are hoping to find her death record, and hopefully and obituary, that would indicate who her parents were. Any and all help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! P.S. I am a looking up volunteer for census records 1850-1920 for the state of Indiana. If I can return a favor, I would be more than happy to do so. Karen
If anyone has any old cemetery books that may contain Bloomington deaths for May, 1919, with William Albert Williamson, would appreciate the info. I grew up in the Methodist Religion. I believe that was my mother's side of the family religion. I know for sure my father's was Baptist.
Have you tried the DeWitt County 1880 census. I found several relatives there that I thought lived in Mclean County. People from DeWitt later wound up in Mclean County. I am looking for a funeral home in Bloomington that was around in 1919. That is when my grandfather, William Albert Williamson, died. Would like to find proof that he was buried in Long Point Cemetery so I can get his name added to their list. Or if anyone has any old obits from May, 1919 on deaths in Mclean County, Bloomington, I would appreciate it--or how to find any from that time period. Think I will have to go through the Bureau of Vital Statistics for his death certificate.
These are the Phillips' in my line: Cameron Sr., Eunice Mae Williamson Underwood Phillips, Kenneth Rae Underwood Phillips, Richard Lee Underwood Phillips, Finley William Phillips, Roy Waddell Phillips, Patrick Malone Phillips, Charles Daniel Phillips, Cameron Jr. and Sharon Jayne Phillips. I do not recognize Maude anywhere in our line. I have Phillips genealogy from Ky that goes way back to 1500's. Part of the McGinnis/ Rousey or Rousay/ Phillips of KY. All around Danville, Perrysville, Parksville, Harrodsburg. Lexington areas. One of my aunt's on the Philips side lived in Mackinaw most of her life. hardy was her last name. I know several of my father's married cousins by marriage. They were Reynolds. His uncle married my mother's aunt--or vice-versa.
The researcher for the Bloomington Public Library is Christopher A. Sweet. This is where I got copies of pages from the city directories. His e-mail is christopherasweet@hotmail.com. You can also do a search of the Bloomington Public Library for info on how to obtain information from them. The cost is very low, and it really helped me get started on my search. Good luck!
I contacted the Bloomington Public Library. If you give me a day, I will get Christopher Sweet's e-mail address. He is in the research dept. at the library. He did a search back to 1850 or so. It costs me $5.30 for the page of 1899 and 1900 city directory, which contained the Williamson I was looking for. Received a fairly quick response. A lady from the Pantagraph Newspaper informed that the Bloomington Public Library has a lot of info from several counties surrounding Mclean. I will put Christopher's address on soon. Hope he can help you out.
My great grandmother's name was Audrey Philips Hardy. She was the daughter of Idella Rousey and she moved to Mackinaw circa 1934. Her husband died shortly after their 4 year old daughter and she moved the rest of their children to be near her brother Alvin, in Illinois. Her children have all passed away, the last was her daughter Della Marjorie in 1996. If anyone wants any further information, they can email me privately at ichabod@bwsys.net. Audrey Haney

Looking for info on William Albert Williamson, born Alton, IL. about 1862 or 1863. Married Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds in DeWitt County, IL. 1883. Had children Ollie and Effie, George, Dewey, Roy, Helen, and Eunice. Eunice married Glenn Underwood, divorced around 1930. Eunice married Cameron Phillips Sr. I am Eunice's daughter. Am looking for William Williamson's parents, and daughter Effie's married name. Effie E. Williamson married an Alfred ?. They lived in Effingham County, probably Shumway. Both Effie and Alfred are buried there. Not sure which cemetery. Effie died somewhere between 1957-1960, I believe. Effie lived with George and Stacy Reynolds Hume of DeWitt county from 1900-1910. Sarah Elizabeth Reynolds' parents, Daniel Thomas and Isabella ? Reynolds are buried, as is Sarah and William Williamson, in Long Point Cemetery, Wapella, IL. Their graves are near the front, and are only marked by 6" x 6" concrete posts. Would like to get their names added to Lo! ng Point Cemetery list, but do not know how to prove it. If anyone has info on old funeral homes in that area that may have a listing of burials, I would appreciate it. I know that Sarah and William Williamson died in Bloomington. William and Sarah may have lived near the Adlai Stevenson family, or worked for them at some point. !899 City Directory shows them living in Normal. The 1900 Directory shows them living on Market Street in Bloomington. Would love any info you can give on Williamson/ Reynolds/ Underwood/Phillips. Also, any children of Darlene and Gerald Prather, please contact me. I am Darlene's cousin. Eunice was Darlene's aunt. Shari at sharuck@islc.net
