Henry Betts/Betz, b. 1845 NY who shows up in 1880 census in Riley, McHenry County, IL, with wife Nancy (b. abt. 1849 IL) and children, George (b. abt. 1871 IL) and Nellie (b. abt. 1879 IL). According to this census, Henry's father was born Bavaria; mother born Hesse Darmstadt. and/or 2. Phillip J. Betts/Betz, b. abt. 1848 NY [date might be inaccurate], who in 1880 was a clerk, single, in Coral, McHenry, IL. His father was also born Bavaria, mother born Hesse Darmstadt. He was enumerated with the VanDiver family in 1880. I believe these two men were brothers, and I am trying to confirm that they are the sons of Jacob Betz (1812-?) and Katharina Hauck.
