Her mother, my GGGrandmother, was Gertud Adams (born Gertrud Schmitt) in Kaifenheim, Germany. I note that there appear to be two Stephan Schmitt's in the St. John records. Kaifenheim is only a short distance (~5 miles SE) from Hirten. Gertrud Adams was married to Nicholas Adams (my GGGF) who was _not_ apparently related to the man of the same name who was a Johnsburg founder. My GGGrandparents lived in Lake County near Volo. I'm trying to figure out if there is a connection between my family and any Schmitts that lived near Johnsburg.
