George (Gerhard) is my great-grandfather, and I found that he married Catherine Hommel in St. Louis on the way from New Orleans to Illinois. I emailed with an organization in Epe-Gronau on the history of the Kernebeck family which goes back to 1300, and had it translated by a German friend. When I get back from Wisconsin in Sept. I'll be happy to mail you a copy (it's on hard copy only). Marv K.

I think we are researching the same Kennebeck family. I recall exchanging messages with Marv several months ago. I just got started up again and got some more research done. I have photocopies of the passenger list for the ship that George (Gerhard) Kennebeck and Catherine Homell came to the US on, as well as census pages from McHenry County, Ill. and Carroll County, Iowa. I also have about five or six copies of marriege records for the children in Carroll County. I have not been able to find death dates for Gerhard and Catherine or any obituaries or photos, but I wWould be happy to share and exchange info if you are interested. My great grandmother Maria Kennebeck was born in 1884 in Carroll County and was daughter of Henry Kennebeck and granddaughter of Gerhard and Catherine. Hope to hear from you. --Dave Reineke
