They were from County Meath, Ireland--William from Rathnally and Elizabeth from Trim. They married in NY shortly after arriving in the US. To date, I have been unable to find the names of William's parents, or the names of all of his siblings. He had a brother, John, born Abt. 1820, who went to England, and a couple of sisters. Elizabeth Gannon was the daughter of Patrick Gannon, born Abt. 1789, and Mary Carr, born Abt. 1800, both in Trim. The family was in Woodstock, IL until 1864 when they went to IA. Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Allan Davis
Thanks - I am very patient but many people 'responding' have said that I would find nothing more than what I have. I am curious to know who the submitter was and if they are related or did they submit the data as part of a role as a LDS member. I am unfamiliar with the submitter and always wondered if he was related. Of course any new information is welcome but I wonder if in this case, the energy to look might be wasted. This is from many people who responded to my request. So I guess, only check if you have a curiosity because I am afraid you might be wasting your time. By the way it wasn't data I wanted to know it was the 'procedure' for obtaining data over the net that I wanted to know. Thanks so much for your generous offer and I hope you enjoy your time there... Ladies and Gentlemen: In case it might be of any help to anyone with Baptist ancestors, I submit the website of the Primitive Baptist Library, in Carthage, Illinois, which has done research on churches of that faith in over 80 counties of Illinois, and in over 30 states across the northern part of our country. The Library has a collection of church and association records, and periodicals, with obituaries, and membership lists have been extracted and entered into a database which now has about 44,000 names, about half of which are for Illinois. The website is: http://www.carthage.lib.il.us/community/churches/primbap/pbl.html Sincerely, Elder Robert Webb

The names I am referencing are the second-generation in-laws. If you look at the St. John the Baptist records you will see my ancestors' family. They lived in Goodale (now Grant) Township from ~1848 on. Nicholas Adams (from Kennfus/Bad Bertrich) was married to Gertud Schmitt from Kaifenheim. Children were Catharina and Otilia Heyer (both retained the last name of their deceased father) (Otilia m Jacob Boncelett 1863) daughter Gertrude (m Franz Rosing 1863) son Bernard John (m Margarett Cossman 1874), son John (m Anna Klein 1877), and Mathias (died as an infant ~1859). I can't prove it, but I am of the opinion that there were 3 adult men with the name Nicholas Adams who were parishioners at St. John's in the 1860's. One was a founder of Johnsburg, one moved to Staceyville Iowa (or thereabouts) and one was my GGGrandfather. If it were any fewer, one of those men must have been very busy! Regards, -Dave Adams-

The Crystal Lake Historical Society invites to you attend the second annual Cemetery Walk, which will be held at the Lake Avenue Cemetery (rain or shine) on Sunday, September 7, 2003 between 1:00-4:00 P.M. Ticket donation is $5 for adults and $3 for students, payable at the gate. The Lake Avenue Cemetery (originally known simply as the "Crystal Lake Cemetery") is the oldest public burying ground in Crystal Lake and Algonquin Township. The cemetery was laid out in 1840. Since that time, many of the early settlers of Crystal Lake have been buried in this location. Six individuals/couples will be featured at the Cemetery Walk: James and Sarah Crow, Sylvia Day Gates, John Brink, Hannah Beardsley Wallace, Mary and Lizza Pierson, and Walter and Laura Fitch. Costumed interpreters will present a first-person performance of the life and times of the featured individual/couple. Come learn how each of these citizens contributed to the development of Crystal Lake during their lifetime. The cemetery is located on Lake Avenue between Nash and Van Buren Streets. Please use these side streets for parking. A keepsake booklet, tour and refreshments are included in the ticket price. For more information, please call email Diana Kenney at: kenney@mc.net

There is a headstone next to my GF in the Cary cem, that has ALVIN or ALVAH written on it. No one knows who it belongs to. I think it might be the son of Jesse Harback. There are only 3 other graves in that part. Dexter Brown & Mr & Mrs Harback. Alvin is buried next to Dexter Brown but I know they are not related. Roger §
Has anyone ever run across the name Jesse HARBACK. His parents ( Dexter & Marie Harback) were married in McH co in 1848. He had one sister (Frances) that was born in 1849, so he was probably born in the early 50s. His parents and sister are buried in the Cary cem. He is not listed in the IL marriage or death index. I sure need some help with this one. Thanks. Roger §
