You said they appear to be the children of Carl and Christina (Schmidt) Behrens? I have one of their children, Edith, who was married to Fred Eibisch in my family tree. Anyways, I'd be interested in hearing more about what you have. Thanks! Jill

Each Atlas CD consists of a series of 9 or more bordering counties making up 1 of 11 Zones that depict all 102 Illinois counties. Each Zone Atlas contains 400 dpi scanned images of vintage 1876 county maps that are organized and presented in Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF). Hello, I took a look at the 1930 Federal Census, and there were too many Joseph Smith's to choose from -however, none were in McHenry County. I also tried to find in the index for the Crystal Lake newspaper a notice for an obituary, and didn't find anything there, either. I can look up Alexander's obit tomorrow while at the library (if you are interested), but need a bit more information about his parents. Do you know where they lived when they first came to the US? That might help in locating them on the census. Was Gertrude born in Scotland? I'm not sure what you mean by the SS Index shows Alexander living at the same addresses as his parents. The SS Index show last residence (town, county, state) but nothing more descriptive than that. They were Scots immigrants who arrived in the US in 1909. As you can imagine the name "Smith" made things difficult. The information I have is that Joseph resided at various addresses in McHenry including Bull Valley, Lakemoor, McCullom Lake, Prairie Grove and Sunnyside. He died in 1969. Information from US SSDI Index Shows an Alexander living at the same addresses at one time. Records show that he died in 1980. Census lookup would be appreciated 1920/30 Ann L. I have an Anna F. Behrens daughter of Johann Behrens and Friederike Kreuger. She was born in Germany and was married to August Wienke in Algonquin in 1905. I also discovered 7 Behrens buried at Union Cemetery in Crystal Lake. It appears from the Headstones, that they are descendants of Carl Behrens and Christina Schmidt. I do not have any relations established with Anna or Johann but noted it just the same. Let me know if this helps or if you need or have more information. Thanks, James

Just click on "F" and you will many many references to Freund people, all likely related in some way since they are at the same parish at the same time. I noted one Stephan being confirmed 1863. Would this be about right? But there are Stephans being fathers of children already in 1853. Hope this is helpful. If you have trouble finding it, let me know. Ken Neumann
