There were two Catholic Churches in McDonough County in the late 'seventies--one located at Tennessee and the other at Macomb. The Tennessee Church was first established at Fountain Green (known also as St. Simon's), about 1839, but in 1860 was removed to Tennessee, where a good church building was erected, the first pastor being FATHER ALBRIGHT. St. Paul's Catholic Church, Macomb, was organized in 1854 by REV. FATHER O'NEILL. The first pastor wad REV. FATHER JOHN LARMER, and the present pastor REV. F. G. LENTZ. The McComb Church has had a steady growth since its organization.
