Just subscribed and want to see if anyone can help with this family. I found John Burnett family listed living in McDonough Co. on 1860 census. His wife is Caroline and they are from VT. I have been told Caroline's maiden name was Millington and am pursuing this investigation. John was born 1809, s/o John Burnet and Lucy Bennet in Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, VT. I have yet to find where he died, but was told another researcher had in her old family notes it was July 7, 1870. Caroline moves to Rantoul, Franklin Co, KS with her married children and died there on Dec. 30, 1884. She is buried in the Ruhama Cemetery. One of their daughters, listed in the IL marriage list as Eliza Burnett married Jerome Millington on Jan. 23, 1867 in Piatt Co, IL. I just got a bio on this line from Franklin Co, KS library in Ottawa. Eliza must have been a pet name as her given name was Louisa Maria Burnett and it said she was born on May 5, 1846 in Bushnell, IL. This Jerome Millington was really named Johnia German Millington and he was the s/o Norman and Sally Millington of Shaftsbury, Bennington Co, VT. They moved to Rantoul, KS just after the Civil War. I know her brother, George W. Burnett lived in Piatt Co. as his daughter, Clarissa Jane Burnett was born there in 1855. She was my g-grandmother. Somewhere along the line the name Burnet added a "t" to the end making it Burnett. I'm wondering if there are any records of John Burnet - one "t" in McDonough Co. during this time period other than the 1860 census. There were two other marriages of Burnett children to Millingtons. Daniel Burnett married Sarah Millington in McDonough Co. on March 21, 1861 Sheppard Burnett married Ellen Millington in Piatt Co. on Dec. 20, 1866. I saw that there was a Solomon Millington who moved to McDonough Co. from Rutland Co, VT and wonder if Sarah and Ellen might have been his children. Also if he might have been a brother to Caroline Millington who married John Burnet. Hope someone might have something that can add to what I have. Thanks, Linda Garrett Livermore, CA
