    1. [ILMCDONO] CAMPBELL/FERGUSON
    2. Andy or Annie Utick
    3. We have a mystery concerning some Campbell children living with a Ferguson family as of the 1850 Pike Co., IL federal census. Following are the particulars: Henry FERGUSON m. Mary "Polly" BRISCOE April 8, 1816 in Washington Co., KY. Between 1835 and 1850, they moved to Pike Co., IL. In the 1850 Pike Co., IL census, they have living with them, in addition to their own children, the following Campbell children: Ann Campbell, age 15, b. KY Polly Campbell, age 12, b. IL Susan Campbell, age 10, b. IL We are wondering if these might be children of a sister of Henry FERGUSON's, who m. a CAMPBELL, possibly in KY. Can anyone help with this puzzle? We do not know who the siblings of Henry FERGUSON were, so can't name any of his sisters. We are fairly certain that these CAMPBELL children are not from Mary "Polly" BRISCOE's side of the family, because we know of her siblings, and do not have any sisters of Polly's who m. a CAMPBELL. Of course, it is possible that Polly Briscoe Ferguson had a sister we don't know of, but it is *more* likely that these CAMPBELL girls are from the FERGUSON side of the family. We have the following info. that may be about this Ann Campbell: An Ann Campbell m. a Jabez Sickler (should most likely be Sickles) in Pike Co. on Aug. 7, 1859. A Jabez Sickles is also listed in the Pike Co. m. records as marrying Welthy Ann Butler Nov. 5, 1857. An Ann Sickles is buried in Wells Cemetery, Pleasant Hill, died Sept. 1866, aged 32 years, 9 months, 17 days, wife of J. R. There is a Jabez R. Sickles, Illinois Civil War Veterans Data Base, Rank REC, 19 IL US INF, Residence Pleasant Hill. The following may be about this Susan Campbell: A Susan F. Campbell is listed in the IL Marriage Index, McDonough County (where some of the Fergusons relocated) married a Tolbert Jaggard, Feb. 14, 1859. Nothing yet about Polly Campbell, but we wonder whether she might actually have been named Mary Campbell. If anyone could shed any light on any of this, we would very much apprciate the help. A. Utick (Montana)
