My g-grandfather Edwin Moore Kimball was taken to raise by foster parents (Abraham Powers) between 1841 and 1850. Family tradition says it happened when either his mother or both parents died. Edwin is shown with the Powers in both the 1850 and 1860 census (age 9 and 19). I am hoping that some guardianship records might exist to cover that circumstance. This might have been recorded in either McDonough or Fulton Co. Can anyone tell me where and how I might look to see if there are such papers?
