Anna Jane SMITH was my g-g'mo, b 14 Jun 1857 in Huntingdon Co, PA, d 29 Feb 1924 in Cuba, Fulton Co, m Nathaniel W. MURPHY, 7 Oct 1874 in Macomb. She was one of 3 daughters and 3 sons of Joseph and Mary (MURFIN) SMITH, both born in Co Derby, England. Joseph SMITH is a very common name and there apparently were a few in McDonough Co, confusing my research. For example, the 1880 census for Fulton Co, Vermont Twp, names a Joseph, 60, and Mary, 65. This could be my ancestors, except that I have death dates for Joseph and Mary in 1873. I don't expect anyone to solve my problems, but I would welcome any info on the Joseph SMITHS of McDonough Co, and I will try to sort them into the different families.
