Hello, I was wondering if anyone had any information about John B. STANDARD, who married Martha MERRICK. Fannie Standard, my Great-Grandmother, born in Macomb in 1882, was their daughter. John Standard owned a farm for many years in Industry, Illinois. My Grandmother, (Fannie's daughter) Gail Endicott, didn't sell this farm until the 1940's. Any information about John and Martha (Merrick)Standard would be appreciated. Thank you, Gail Shulmire roosier@aol.com

Dear Friends: My husband and I do workshops in writing family history, autobiography and memoir. My husband, Charley Kempthorne, has written a widely accepted book on writing family history and together we have for seven years published a magazine on the subject. We travel the country and have done dozens of workshops in twenty or more of the States. Often we do the workshops at history museums, libraries, seniors centers, and schools. We are going to be in Illinois the week of November 15 to 21 doing workshops at Rockford and several other Illinois cities. Would your organization have a facility where we might do such a workshop? We would need a room (no special facilities necessary, just a quiet and well-lighted room with tables and/or chair with desk arms so that the participants can write easily) for twenty or more people for up to a full day, though sometimes we do half-day workshops. We are a non-profit organization, The LifeStory Institute, Inc., but we do charge for the workshop and we would expect to pay rent for the room. Would you have a place and an interest in such a workshop? Contract us at our e-mail or if you perfer phone us toll free at 800-685-7330 for more detail. Even if the timing is wrong for you in November, please contact us and we could possibly arrange another time. Thanks! June Kempthorne www.kansas.net/~lifestor/
I have been researching my STEEL(E) lineage in McDonough Co. and have found my great grandfather and two of his brothers married into the Stoneking lineage. I have gathered quite a bit of information, but am at a standstill on them and the Stoneking girls. If anyone is researching the Stoneking name and found that they have them marrying into the Steele lineage, I sure would like to hear from you. Maybe we can figure some of this out. Thank you.
