    3. Hi all, I have added a page to my Bridges page containing information for Thomas Bridges and his family. I know some of you are interested in the name James M. Bridges. Thomas has a son by that name and I am not sure but I think Thomas's father was a James also. But haven't figured this out yet. On this page are other surnames of Cordell, Gregg, Miller, Paine, and Springer. If anyone has any information or questions, please email me. This page can be found at: http://people.ce.mediaone.net/backster/thomas.html thanks, julie:)

    3. We too have just returned from a week's genealogy trip to Fulton, Schuyler and McDonough Counties. Our experience with the Fulton Co. Courthouse was similar Debra's was with the McDonough courthouse. They wanted $2 for each marriage license, site unseen. I did manage to 'sweet talk' a viewing of one license before paying for it and found it was the one I wanted. I wanted to get copies of about 10 others but was unwilling to gamble on not getting the correct items. Our experience at the Schuyler Co. Courthouse however was wonderful! The staff was cheerful, helpful and friendly. We were able to look thru all the legal documents and pick and chose which pages we wanted copied. They were most helpful, including looking up the surnames we were interested in on their computer and showing us the index of what they had for each. We were able to discover the death of an illusive uncle thanks to them. The IRAD at Western IL University has a huge depository of information, including McDonough Co. marriage licenses( the ones I neded were between 1835 and 1880)-one could look at them then have copies made for 10 cents/page. 1. [ILMCDONO] Many Thanks to Mary Jane White
    2. Julie Grooms
    3. Hi Gang, My husband just spend a WONDERFUL vacation all over Ark, Mo, and IL. BUT the ABSOLUTE BEST time was in MaComb, IL. Yes Mary Jane it was 200% better than the Corvette Show! I just wanted to Thank Mary Jane White and her family for all of the Stories and information. The country side is very pretty. All we could think about is ALL THAT CORN AND NO CRAWFISH!! The people were so helpful and more than willing to tell their Stories. We were able to visit the Camp Creek Cemetary. If you have never see it, it's worth the trip. So much history up on that hill. We found the tombstones of my gggrandfather and mother EP and Catharine Munson. Also found their mothers who both were named Lydia. Lydia Munson and Lydia Sanders. Also found a gaunt Birdie Clark who died in infancy. We never knew her name. THEN to my suprise I found my other gggrandparents Franklin and Susanna Clark along with their children, Winifred Logan, George Clark, Effie Clark and Edward Clark. To my disappointment I never found my ggrandfather W.A. 'Joe' Clark even though all of my info said he was burried there. Joe is my mystery man for sure! I got to see some Crocks that my gggrandfather kiln produced. They have E.P. Munson in Colbolt Blue stamped on them. Does anyone have one for Sale??? I sure would love to have one. If you ever get to go to MaComb make sure you run up the road to Tenessee and go to the OLD Skating Rink. It's now a Flea Market packed with all sorts of nice things. The people who run it are super nice. Again I can't thank Mary Jane enough for the Great time! 3. Looking for relatives of Marie Bissell Johnson. Ms. Johnson provided a series of photographs of my ancestors published in the Blandinsville Star Gazette in 1986. I have copies of the clippings but would like to learn what happened to the originals and if any others photos or my ancestors exist. The only firm date I have is for a photo captioned "In Days Gone By" from the Sept 4, 1986 issue. Ms. Johnson may be a daughter or granddaughter of Myrtle O. Fisher and ___ Bissell who resided in the Blandinsville/La Harpe area from 1880 through at least 1920. Stephen Fisher

    1. [ILMCDONO] Many Names: Found: 126 Obits and Articles
    2. The following 126 people from obits and newspaper articles {many mentioning more of their relatives} were found in a scrapbook in Roswell, New Mexico by Nancy Harvey while going though her mother’s things after her death. Nancy wrote: "The scrapbook is one which my great grandmother, Amanda Bryan Wetzel, or perhaps my grandmother, Nettie Wetzel Dean, pasted lots of obituaries of family and friends. These families were from around McDonough, Fulton, Cass, and Schuyler Counties. These obits are probably around a hundred years old or may be more." I have found while typing them that they were from 1880 to 1921. I have placed them in the "Obituary" and "Newspaper Articles" sections of my ILTRAILS Schuyler County, Illinois site: <http://www.iltrails.org/Schuyler/> >From the main page, go to "Table of Contents", scroll down to "Obituaries" and "Newspaper Articles". 2. Julie
    3. Hi all, I am looking for any information on Thomas Bridges , whom I believe to be a relative somehow maybe a cousin to my John Bridges who was married to Margaret Vance, whom can be viewed on my website located at: http://people.ce.mediaone.net/backster/index.html . Both John and Thomas lived in the Morgan and McDonough Counties in Illinois. John was in Morgan county from 1823 to 1829 before moving on to McDonough County. THomas might have been born between 1800 to 1810. He may have come from North Carolina area before coming to Illinois. Thomas was married to Frances Miller on August 25, 1831. THey had at least 5 children, James M., Elder, Sarah, Mary, and Thomas. Below is some pieces I have gathered. I would also like to know who the M Amicy female age 79 born in North Carolina is in the 1850 McDonough County census further down in this message. John Bridges died in 1844 in a farming accident as I was told by someone, I see that Thomas is not in the 1850 census, could! it be that he was killed in the same accident or perhaps died other ways in the 1840's? Any information on Frances Miller would be helpful too. I have added other lists in the email address with names that are related to the Bridges. Maybe Thomas Bridges and Frances Miller might grab someone's attention. thanks, julie:) September 1830- John Bridges and Thomas Bridges were selected as grand jury men of the 3rd meeting of the first regular term of the County Commisioners Court to select a grand jury petitt jury for the october term of the Circuit Court, being the first term.
