Valerie, Dodsworth Funeral Home is now Dodsworth - Piper - Wallen Funeral Home at 201 W Carroll St, Macomb, IL 61455 (309-833-4119). You note May Ingram was born 1879 in Plymouth, Schuyler Co IL. It is likely she was born in Schuyler Co since the Plymouth rural route would extend into Schuyler. However, for help in searching, it might be significant to know Plymouth is actually located in Hancock Co IL, bordering McDonough Co IL at the east edge of the village of Plymouth. You also note "Charles Forrest LONGWELL b 1898 Maquon Knox County IL (or Macomb??)." Maquon is in Knox Co IL, but Macomb is in McDonough Co IL, some distance from each other. Other cemeteries near Scotts Cemetery would be the Dunkard Cemetery about 2.5 miles north & east of Scotts and the Stoneking Cemetery (not sure if it's #1 or #2) about 2.5 miles due east of Scotts. There may be others. You might find help at http://www.macomb.com/mcgs/cemeteries/ Mary Jane
Thank you for the information, Mary Jane. You had a question about my info below: In a message dated 10/17/00 10:20:02 AM Central Daylight Time, maryjane@macomb.com writes: << You also note "Charles Forrest LONGWELL b 1898 Maquon Knox County IL (or Macomb??)." Maquon is in Knox Co IL, but Macomb is in McDonough Co IL, some distance from each other. >> The reason I have a question mark for these towns is because both of these names have appeared at different times for the birthplace of Charles Forrest LONGWELL. When he was killed in 1921, someone filled out the death certificate and listed as "Place of Birth" - "Macomb, IL". His mother's name, which is documented that he didn't know a year earlier, is listed as "Mary INGRAM". (now known as May INGRAM) When I saw this death certificate from 1921 Davenport IA, I searched all over IL for his birth record of 1898. None found. But I did find that his father was born and raised in Maquon, IL, and Charles possibly lived there as a small boy. Before 1915, he and his father and stepmother lived in Galesburg (just north of Maquon) in Knox County and moved to the Quad Cities area (Moline IL, Davenport IA). At that point I had information that the maternal family lived in Schuyler and Fulton County, but there were no records of the family ever being in Mcdonough County. At that point, I came to the conclusion that whomever filled out the death certificate must have mistaken "Maquon" for "Macomb". Possibly his father ...or even his 19 year old widow who knew almost nothing about her deceased husband's family. Now that my research is beginning to lead me to Mcdonough County.... I am back to questioning his birthplace. So..now you have the rest of the story! :D Thanks for all of your help! Valerie
Oh gosh.. I forgot to change the subject line. SORRY! << Hi List ~ This is also my first post to the Mcdonough list. I've been searching for my INGRAM/WAGNER line in the surrrounding county, but this one may be the ticket. My Greatgrandmother is missing. Born in 1879 in Plymouth, Schuyler County IL as Etta "May" INGRAM, she was married young in Washington County Iowa and divorced from my Ggrandfather Thomas C. LONGWELL in Knox County IL in 1900. She apparently did not appear at the court hearing and lost custody of her baby son, my grandfather, Charles Forrest LONGWELL b 1898 Maquon Knox County IL (or Macomb??) and never saw him again. When he married in 1919, he stated on the record that he did not know his mother's name. He was killed in 1921 in a stone crushing machine accident near Davenport Iowa, when he only child, my father, was an infant. Nothing was known about this side of the family until I started a search 6 years ago. "May"s parents died when she was small, and are most likely buried in the Scott's cemetery in rural Mcdonough County, along with several other relatives who lived in the McComb area. Her mother, Permelia BOX INGRAM, is located there with a marker. But her father, Uriah INGRAM, is not. Her grandparents were John and Elizabeth (Williams) BOX who lived in Littleton, Schuyler County IL. and are buried in the Thompson cemetery in Schuyler, near their homestead. They died in 1900 and 1901. In 1903, Mrs "May" (INGRAM) LONGWELL married C. H. WAGNER, a potter of Monmouth, Warren Co., IL. There is no record of her again until 1930ish, when May's brother Newton INGRAM dies and she is listed as a survivor, living in Vermont, Fulton County IL. The obituary is as follows: (no date, but probably 1925-1930ish) Newton Ingram, 1225 East Pierce street, died at the Phelps Hospital about 3:00a.m. yester after an illiness of one year. Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. tomorrow at the Dodsworth funeral home. Rev. C.C. Mordling will officiate, with the burial at Scotts cemetery. He was the Son of Marire(Uriah) and Permelia Ingram and was born January 17, 1872, in Schuyler county. He resided in Bethel township before moving to Macomb. In 1912 he married Mary Nancy Clark, who died about three months ago. They had no children. He is survived by five sisters, Mesdames May Wagner of Vermont, Sarah Alice Breeden of LaPrairie, Frances Mason of Macomb, Belle Cracraft and Jane Scalf of Beatrice, Neb. Two Brothers, Jasper and Charles Ingram are deceased. -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Does anyone have any access to Dodson Funeral home? Are they still in business? Possibly they would have a record of "May" Ingram Longwell WAGNER? That is probably my only hope, as I have ordered all the Death records from the state of IL as well as SS records, and none of them match to her. There are many relatives buried in Scott's cemetery, but available records show they are not there....so perhaps they do not have markers? Or could be in another cemetery nearby? Any help is appreciated! Thank you! Valerie >>

Hello Everyone, This is my first post to the list, and it isnt a very good one. The reason being is that I am looking for my Calvin BLANKENSHIP without much to go on. I am sending this to the Illinois lists because I am thinking that since his wife was born in IL and her parents in TN, that maybe the Blankenship's moved from TN to IL, then to MO. Unfortunately I do not have last names for the women born in IL, but I figure that if I start shooting in the dark long enough, I will hit something. I estimate the Blankenship's migrating to IL after 1825. I found Calvin BLANKENSHIP married to DELIAH on the 1850 Texas County, MO census. Living next door to Calvin is WILLIAM BLANKENSHIP and his wife, PAMELA JANE. Since Calvin was only a couple of years older than William, I have to assume they are related, if not brothers, because they were the only Blankenships in TExas County at this time and they were both born in TN and both of their wives in IL (just thought that was interesting). SInce Calvin Died during the civil war (there is no record on him except a muster roll, since he was a confederate), he wasnt around when the government started asking where their parents were born. I followed Deiliah until 1880. I estimate her time of death between 1881-1883. I followed William, and he lists his parents as also being born in TN ..... although its a shot in the dark, is there anyone out there that has a link to a BLANKENSHIP's that had a son named Calvin, (who was born abt 1820-25) and/or William (b. abt.1823-1826). I do not have Calvin's parents names or their wives maiden names. I am hoping to connect them to someone who might be able to shed some light on this for me .... Thank you in advance!!!!
If anyone has a list for the Mt. Auburn cemetery in Colchester, I need a lookup. I need birth and death dates for Homer Ellis Robinson and Lillie Jane (Thompson) Robinson. Ron Bryant
Hi Kathleen. I see at the bottom of your signature that you are searching Hicks. What, when and where are your Hicks? I have Hicks that started in VA., moved to KY and then to IL and WI and some of them on to KS, and I correspond with a distant cousin who has some other Hicks info too. My Hicks cover the late 1700's in Va to the 1900's in KS. The reason I subscribe to the McDonough list is Kimball/Dierdorf/Stinson/Powers/Moore interests in the mid 1800's. Chuck
Hello, I'm looking for my great grandfather, William V Hardy. I do not know positively that his middle initial is V - that's simply been "passed down" He did married my great grandmother, Lettia Luticia SNELLEN McHenry Bagby (1843-1912) December 25, 1875 in Henderson County, Illinois. I have a copy of their "marriage License" - a little sliver of paper I received from the County Clerk. My grandmother remembers that he was married before because he had his children from a previous marriage living with them. My grandmother, Ada May HARDY Robinson, was born in 1877 in Hancock County Illinois. Mr Hardy left, with his children from previous marriage, in the middle of the night when Ada was 4 or 5 years old. They never saw or heard from him again. She remembers him being tall, thin, straight, having a red beard, and proud of his Irish decent. I would love to find any info on this man! All ideas will be greatly appreciated! In reading old journals I found reference of my Grandfather Andrew W. Hamilton going to Park College. His parents lived near Good Hope and they sent parcels to him. Can anyone tell me where Park College would have been in 1898. Debbie Hamilton
Hi, Caroline,, Regarding Albert Miller, buried in McDonough County: I've written before, but your email caught my eye today because I am related to the MOORES from Mason County. The obituary states that Laura left 1 babe...Unfortunately, that child may be buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Perhaps they had another child, but the dates are so close... >From the Oak Hill Cemetery Book; Vol. 3: Burgett, D. Frank, inf son of F. T. and L. A. 1872 Sec. A..this is the same section that Frank T. and Laura A are buried. If Laura died in 1872, surely this is that child. I can tell you are going through data with a fine tooth comb. I do the same thing, trying to find the parents of Marcus D. MILLER, b. 1810 in upstate NY. Good Luck, it sounds like you are now in the process of elimination. By eliminating this one you can then go to the next one. (If I have made a mistake, don't hesitate to tell me about it)....If I can be of any help, let me know. (I have most of the Fulton Co, IL books.) Judith Goodwin
