I show Presley, his wife Eliza Burks Purdy and family on the 1870 census as living in the Harrisburg area { which is only about 9 or 10 miles from Halsey]. My information shows that my Purdy's went to Oregon in the early 1870's. I've lost track of Presley and Eliza, their deaths, where buried, etc Does anything here ring any bells from your research? Cathleen, Here is the URL for the Illinois Statewide Marriage Index 1763 - 1900. The site gives information about how to obtain copies of original marriage records.
