Joseph Everett PRYOR was a Falls Pilot. He was a pilot for riverboats going over the Falls of the Ohio River and took boats (including the Telegraph, a steamboat he co-owned with William RONDEAU and James ALCORN) down to New Orleans. He was born 8-10-1786 VA and died 10-5-1851 near Golconda, Pope Co IL. He was also a Regulator in the Regulator-Flathead War, a Constable, a Tavern owner, a Boatman in the War of 1812, and active in the early Baptist Church in Massac and Pope with William RONDEAU. They organized the 1st Baptist Church of New Orleans. Other PRYOR occupations were: Nephew of Joseph above, Daniel RISINGER PRYOR a Baptist Preacher, teacher, co-founder of the Metropolitan Republican newspaper (it became the Massac Journal), Trustee of Ewing College and Civil War soldier; his father Daniel FARLEY PRYOR was a teacher and farmer.
