I have been back to the local Family History Center (Naperville, IL Mormon Church Library) and subsequently have found Henry's known siblings Anne and Elizabeth and an older brother Gottfried Dietrich Schabbehard born in 1839 living only three weeks. I also found Fritz and Hanne's 1837 marriage record wh > > > > Any help would be greatly appreciated! > > Phil Shappard Phil-- My Brinker and Kleinschmidt ancestors came from Westfalen (a village called Schale, NW of Osnabruck) just before 1850 and settled in Cincinnati until moving to Massac county in 1855, but I do not know their port of entry. I found their names at the local LDS Family History Center in an index that led me to a book by Friedrich Muller "Westfalische Auswanderer im 19. Jahrhundert - Auswanderung aus dem Regier ungsbezirk Munster, Part 1. 1803-1850." It lists immigrants who left Munster between 1803 and 1850, but if it gives the name of the ship or point of entry, I did not find it. I know a lot of Germans settled in Cincinnati, so you might try that route. Also, when I was in Metropolis last summer for a Brinker reunion, I visited St. Stephens cemetery and found some Shappard headstones: "Shappard, Erma, wife of Raymond, 1899-1925" "Earnest R. Shappard 1924-1931" "Valda E. Shappard 1911-192?" I suppose I wrote these down because one of my Brinker cousins in Brookport had been married to a Shappard. I hope some of what I have written will be of use to you. Please email me if I can provide any more information. Nancy Brinker Trezise
