Mortgage Date: May 2, 1895 Consideration: $300.00 Book: N Description: All his undivided interest in the Massc Journal Republican ----- Daniel Risinger Pryor and H.C. Laughlin founded the Metropolis Republican in 1874. In 1876 the paper was consolidated with the Massac Journal. Daniel Risinger Pryor was the son of Daniel FARLEY Pryor and Nancy Louis RISINGER, and was at various times a Baptist minister, an Associate Editor of the Baptist News and a Trustee at Ewing College. He served in the Civil War and was a teacher. He was married to Mary Ann (Mollie) ROBERTS, daughter of John Roberts. His uncle was Joseph Everett PRYOR who served in the War of 1812, was a Regulator in Johnson and Massac counties, and a River Pilot. Daniel Risinger Pryor's grandfather was John A. Pryor who served in the Revolutionary War from Virginia and brought the Pryor family from Virginia to Kentucky about 1790.
