    3. No, we don't have a Massac or Fort Massac township. There was a Massac City until the 1890's when it and Metropolis City merged to become Metropolis. Massac County was formed out of Pope and Johnson Counties in 1843, but in 1810 neither Pope or Johnson were formed yet. This would have been Randolph County in 1810 (this is the year you asked for). Randolph was formed in 1795 out of the Northwest territory. Johnson Co. began in 1812 and Pope in 1816. Ft. Massac between 1816 and 1843 was in Pope Co. They have excellent court records in Pope Co. (circuit clerk's office); and deeds in the County Clerk's office at Golconda. You may also want to look in the Draper Books where you live--Frontier papers and George Rodgers Clark papers. There are some old maps and records in those indexes relating to Ft. Massac in the late 1700's and early 1800's. The precincts that Ft. Massac border now are Metropolis precinct and Brooklyn precinct. It is state owned now. Totally confused yet?????
