    3. Just a reminder about our special guest speaker for the July 20th meeting. It will be held in the library basement. Hope you can attend. ***************************************************** The Massac County Genealogical Society will present Glen Bishop, Civil War speaker, July 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Metropolis Library meeting room. Bishop, dressed in Union attire, will give accounts of the battles of Ft. Donelson, Shiloh, Corinth, Grierson's Raid, and Guntown...the battles that the southern Illinois men fought in. He will also give an account of the "General Lyon" tragedy that was the cause of death of so many men from the 56th IL Infantry. After his program, Bishop will be available to answer questions The library will also have a Civil War display by Ann Laird which will include photographs, maps, and regimental histories. Refreshments will be provided by the library staff. If you've wondered what it was like for your relative to serve in the Civil War plan to attend!!!!!
