Maness who was born on May 4, 1858 and died Feb. 25, 1936. According to the newspaper article, Sarah L. Maness died in Mason City, IL and was buried in Mason City Cemetery. She was born in Johnson County, MO. She married John S. Maness in Johnson Co. Feb. 18, 1879. John S. Maness died Dec. 5, 1914. Sarah L. Maness was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in Mason City. A son survives, George; two daughters, Miss Josie, and Miss Ulysses, all of Mason City; two brothers, Natrhan and George Humphreys; a half brother, Newton Maness, and three half sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Masterson, Mrs. Carrie Smith and Mrs. Fida DeMoss, all of Missouri. Am wondering if the son, George, is your G.Grandfather and if Sarah L. Maness would be your G.G. Grandmother. My G.Grandmother, Sarah Alice Maness born May 20, 1883 and died January 7, 1903. My grandmother,Bertha Ellen, daughter of Sarah Alice Maness and Charles Franklin Chester was born Feb. 19, 1902.
