James McMullen officiating. Burial will be in Mason City Cemetery, with military rites by Jackson-Keene Post 496 American Legion, Mason City. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home. Mrs. Mellinger died at 12:05 pm Sunday at Sunshine Meadows Nursing Home, Lincoln. She was born Dec 22, 1912 in Mason City, a daughter of John and Hattie Shipman Price. She married Elbert Mellinger on May 24, 1934 in Springfield. He died May 23, 1965. Survivors include a son, Barry, Livermore, CA; three sisters, Minerva Kolb, Evansville, IN; Ecycle Wilcoxson, Mason City and Audrey Griffin, Lincoln; and two grandsons. Two sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Mellinger was a former assistant vice president of Springfiled Federal Savings & Loan Co. She served with the U.S. Navy WAVES during WW II as a gunner's mate. Memorials may be made to the Mason City nursing home fund.
